Terminally Ill can now Live On through LiveOn.com
A new site promises to keep your memories and legacy forever.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 10, 2012 --
Sam Turner’s doctor says she has just under a year to live. On top of dealing with everything else that comes with a terminal illness like brain cancer, she fears her daughters, both under five, won’t know her stories or remember her. While she’s leaving them cards and videos, she still worries they won’t receive them when they’re supposed to, if at all.
It’s cases like Sam’s that inspired LiveOn, a website that gives you control of your legacy by promising to keep a digital timeline of your life forever. This means your children, grandchildren and every generation beyond will know you and your story through your own words. Users can add audio descriptions to their photos, upload home videos, talk into their webcams or even send time capsules into the future, which will be delivered whether they’re around to remember or not.
While LiveOn isn’t just for the terminally ill, their non-profit program LiveOn Cares, is. Each year, they’ll pick five people facing terminal illness or debilitating disease and capture their lives on LiveOn, digitizing all of their old photos and videos for free and helping them tell their life story so it never fades away.
“We will also help them create time capsules and messages for their loved ones if they want to be present at future events such as a daughter’s graduation or a son’s wedding,” says Jonathan Whistman, CEO and Founder of LiveOn. “We hope to leave the recipients and their families a beautiful, interactive and shareable timeline of their life that will endure long after they are gone. They’ll also be helping others, as our company will donate any revenue made from family members’ accounts to a cause of their choice.”
You can nominate yourself or a loved one for LiveOn Cares until mid-March. Please contact Linsey Grams at linsey@liveon.com or call 816-569-1965 ext. 704 to recommend someone who is interested in the program. Include the nominee’s name, a brief bit about their situation and contact information. Chosen recipients will be notified in March.
