The Airport Parking Nightmare
The Airport Parking Nightmare
Holidays can be an expensive proposition so it makes sense that we shop around for the best deals on flights and hotel stays. However, not everyone extends this bargain hunting as much as they should.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 31, 2011 --
I try to go on holiday once in summer, just for a relaxing week or two in the sun and once in the winter. I love to ski and try to go at least one week a year and maybe the odd weekend now and again.
The biggest bug bear I have though is getting to the airport. Here are my choices:
1) Get a taxi – well from where I live they usually charge about £150 return which is quite expensive (especially when you compare to the total cost of the hoiday) but it is very convenient.
2) Get a train – not so expensive but not cheap and quite inconvenient when you consider that you have to get to the station with all your kit, and get back again after the holiday and you are stuck to the running times of the trains. Well, if you’re like me, you get the cheapest flights, but these could be at stupid o’ clock in the morning and the trains don’t run then!
3) My preferred option, drive and park at the airport – it usually works out cheaper to drive – even though fuel is quite expensive – and it is the most convenient of all. However the main problem with this is that a lot of the more reliable airport parking companies have started putting up the prices recently so it’s nearly expensive as a taxi.
The thing is, I really resent paying more to get to the airport and park, than I paid for the flight. It just seems ludicrous to me that to fly 500 miles cost £90 but to go 90 miles to the airport ends up costing as much as £150
However, there is an answer! I have found that if you go direct to the main airport parking companies they do charge top whack, but what is needed in this industry help to drive the price down considerably is a top quality price comparison site.
I looked around the internet and couldn’t find a really good site to give me what I wanted, so I made my own: iWantParking.com. It’s very simple to use – you don’t have to register to get a quote (I hate having to register on all these sites) and they compare all the available parking at all the UK airports and give it to you straight with prices, locations, feedback and everything else you need.
The best thing though, is if you book through iWantParkin.com, we offer a double the difference money back guarantee. If you find the same parking cheaper – you get double the difference back. Can’t say fairer than that!
