The best Way to Removinga Radio in a 2002 Ford F150-Xl Truck

Bakersfield, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 8, 2012 -- I don't know wether you have owed this vehicle, you will already have known about it.The F-150’s history dates back to the 1935 release of the F-1 pickup, alongside the F-2 and F-3 models. In 1984, the F-150 arrived as a complement to the F-100 – formerly the F-1 – and it outright replaced the F-100 in1995. The 1982 model year marked the release of the “XL” trim level for the F-150, along with the “XLT” and “XLT Lariat” trim levels. The “XL” trim level acted as the base model in 1998 and it represented the same base level in the2003 F-150.

The2003 F-150 XL came relatively well equipped for a base-level truck, as it had a standard AM-FM radio with a cassette player.Now replacing the2004 F-150 XL’s radio requires a special tool,not a tough task.

The best step:

Step 1． Wrapping the blade side of a flat-head screwdriver with a layer of duct tape.

Step 2． Pring around the perimeter of the radio and climate-control bezel with the flat-head screwdriver to disengage its retaining clips. Pulling the bezel forward and pull the wiring harness from the rear of the cigarette lighter.

Step 3． Looking on both sides of the radio – right to left – and find the two holes on either end, these are the radio removal tool locator holes. Insert the straight ends of two Ford radio removal tools about an inch into the locator holes.

Step 4． Holding outward pressure on the radio remove tool to depress the radio-retaining tabs and pulling the tools toward the rear of the F-150 until the retaining tabs clear the dashboard. At the moment the tabs clear, grab the radio and slide it from the dashboard just enough to access the wiring on the rear of it.

Step 5． Pressing and hold the unlocking button on the radio’s wiring harness and pulling the harness from the rear of the radio. Pulling the antenna wire from the rear of the radio and remove the radio from the F-150.

Installation

1.Plugging the antenna wire into its receptacle on the rear of the radio and plug the wiring harness press into its receptacle until it clicks into place.
2.Sliding the radio and wiring into the dashboard chassis until you hear the radio-retaining clips click into place, close the radio in the dashboard chassis.

3.Plugging the wiring harness into the rear of the cigarette lighter and make a line up the clips on the rear of the radio and climate-control bezel up with the slots in the dashboard around the radio. Pressing the bezel onto the dashboard till the retaining clips snap into place.
