The Callan Group Assists in Raising Daytona Beach AdFed $6,500 for Local Scholarship

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 27, 2009 -- On October 19 Diane Michael of The Callan Group kicked off the Daytona Beach Advertising Federation’s Media & More Auction – with all items listed on eBay for the first-time ever! The auction had media outlets for cents on the dollar as well as local gift certificates, art, and much more.

When Kay Galloway, the Daytona Beach AdFed’s Board President, approached Diane to be this year’s auction chair she was excited to embark on a new way of fundraising. Diane’s background, before starting The Callan Group in 2008 was non-profit management with focused efforts on event management. She had never experience a media auction or an auction on-line.

After soliciting 75 items of media and more, Diane and Kay listed all items under a 5-day auction on eBay to gain a viral approach to the organizations fundraising efforts. “I had clients bidding, I saw friends bidding, and I was bidding! It was a great fresh approach to fundraising, especially during this economic time. This was the way to do it!” proclaimed Michael. The money was raised to support the group and for the Jim Shipley Scholarship which provides financial assistance to local individuals pursuing a career in marketing and advertising. After countless volunteer hours the group raised $6,500 and still has some feelers out to sell the items that did not sell. For a first year event, Diane and Kay are very happy with the results.
