Altered Destiny: A Hustler’s Choice depicts a young teenage girl from Brooklyn, New York, who has grown up amid drugs, crime, and violence. She manages to make a life for herself on the streets, with money, sex, respect, power, notoriety, and even love and she feels that the choices she has made to get there are the right ones. No once can stop her or tell her otherwise. But it all comes crashing down when one of the choices she has made comes back to haunt her. She learns that success in this game and the choices she has made do not matter--especially when she faces Him, and He shows her how her choices have altered her destiny. Will she get a second chance to make the right decision? Or will it be too late?

Sherylynne decided to write this story after seeing so many teenagers and young adults reading urban fiction and falling down the same path as some of the characters. Sherylynne says, “I use to read urban fiction. The stories were amazing, but one day I had to stop and think about those younger than me reading it. Some of those books glorified the street life and were explicit with sex scenes. I saw girls fourteen and sixteen reading them and felt that they needed to see the consequences of that lifestyle. People say, we have to keep it real, but they are not keeping it real. They don’t show what really happens in the end the majority of the time. So, I wanted to write a story that showed that if you choose that lifestyle there are consequences. That choice of living that life could change your future and others as well.”

According to Sherylynne, this book combines both styles of writing, urban christian fiction and urban fiction. It will have you on the edge of your seat wanting to know what happens next. It is a thriller, it has drama, and real life situations from abortion to abuse, and will take you on a journey from beginning to end. Altered Destiny: A Hustler’s Choice is not just for teenagers, but for everyone that wants a good book to read and that will change the way they make choices.

About the Author:

Sherylynne L. Rochester was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.  She is an author, singer, songwriter, and business owner, and while in high school she sang with the Girls Choir of Harlem. She received her bachelor's degree in business management and audio recording at Five Towns College in Dix Hills, Long Island, and it was there she realized her lifelong passion for writing. Sherylynne is a Praise and Worship Leader at Prevailing Word Bible Church, and loves to bring people closer to God through music and worship.  She resides in Pennsylvania, where she is hard at work recording her album and working on her next novel.
