March 23rd -- The Sunset Strip, a relatively short stretch of road that has become known as the playground for the famous and all the "wannabe's". The bars and clubs that line this strip tirelessly try to out-flash each other in a desperate attempt to make headlines. The Cutting Room chose to disregard this business model and instead quietly opened when no one was looking and let the patrons find them. This low key rock and roll bar has become a watering hole for Los Angeles' trendsetters and celebrities that wouldn't be caught dead at a typical "Sunset Strip" bar.
Once inside the cutting room you wont find go-go dancers, fog cannons, strobe lights or booths with banquettes built specifically for standing atop and fist-pumping. You will however enjoy a stiff drink while taking in some of rock n roll's most important memorabilia. Until recently, The Cutting Room was a weekend only bar however, since they began opening their doors on Monday nights it's not a rare occurrence to see Jessica Biel, John Stamos, Jessica Szohr or even Topher Grace enjoying a drink inside these rock n roll clad walls.
The Cutting Room is the most recent project by Greg Morris (The Belmont, The Spanish Kitchen) The Cutting Room, a rock- n-roll- inspired bar within the Grafton Hotel. Morris describes the venue's design as having the feel of a home recording studio, with sound proofed walls, guitars signed by Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and The Grateful Dead intermixed with album covers from Jimi Hendrix to The Doors making up the majority of the decor while cocktail waitress and bartenders dressed in rocker garb are always on hand and ready to serve your favorite drink. The Cutting Room which officially opened January 2011 and has already collected a list of dedicated followers who come out to hear the DJs to spin classic rock through the night.
