The Fotonovela Production Company (FPC) has collaborated with California Public Health on a new story-telling innovation: The Web Novela!

(Free-Press-Release.com) June 6, 2011 -- The web novela, "An Ounce of Prevention," or "Más vale prevenir," was adapted and produced from a fotonovela on HPV that the FPC produced for the California Public Health Immunization Program to encourage Latino parents to have their pre-teens vaccinated against HPV. FPC followed their usual careful and culturally respectful process for developing the story, and field tested it with Latino parents in California. The field test yielded enthusiasm, glowing results, and a statistically significant knowledge gain in pre and post tests.

Similar to fotonovelas, the benefits of web novelas are that they are entertaining, fun, and informative. They are also ideal for reaching more Latino audiences on the web; the web novela innovation is perfect for organizations that want to turn to digital storytelling in order to augment the more traditional print approach. Web novelas can be produced and distributed on a variety of digital formats, including as embedded video on agency or organization websites, online video such as You Tube, and smart phone applications.

FPC is offering web novela production services to agencies and health organizations that have already produced fotonovelas for print use and would like to adapt them for on-line use, or, for organizations who would like to begin using the web novela storytelling approach for the first time.
