(Free-Press-Release.com) March 9, 2010 -- Long Beach, CA – March 1, 2010 – The Greater LA Woman, a plus size apparel boutique offering sizes 12-24 teamed up with Women Helping Women (WHW) in a Valentine’s Promotion called, “Let’s Share a Little L-O-V-E with Women Helping Women”. In December of 2009, WHW contacted The Greater LA Woman to expressing an urgent and significant need for plus size apparel appropriate for job interviews and office environments.

In response, The Greater LA Woman launched a clothing drive supported by discount coupons of up to $50 off for each donation of interview/office appropriate attire and accessories (purses, shoes, scarves and jewelry) donated between Feb. 10-28. The clients of Greater LA Woman displayed tremendous support and delivered over 35 bags of donated items that included suits, work apparel, and "like new" shoes and handbags, as well as apparel and lingerie donated from the store itself.

"We were delighted with the involvement of our wonderful customers! They really came through to help a non-profit organization in need that supports such an important cause," commented Rachel Perlmutter, The owner of The Greater LA Woman. "We want to thank all the ladies that made the effort to share some sisterly love during this Valentine's Holiday event."

Women Helping Women (“WHW”)

The founders created a program that they believed would help victims of domestic violence break the cycle of poverty, avoid homelessness and improve the quality of life for themselves and their families. Eventually, services were expanded to include all low-income women in transition, including the homeless, drug or alcohol rehabilitated, women on parole, immigrants, women lacking job skills, emancipated youth and welfare mothers.

By offering support services that would help these women overcome barriers to employment, build confidence and enhance self-esteem, WHW began to experience program success as clients made positive changes and moved toward achieving an improved quality of life and financial independence. In the first year of operation (1993), 63 women were served. In the sixteen years since their inception, more than 17,000 women have been given a helping hand in their efforts to overcome profound barriers in their quest to become economically self-sufficient.
