The Hope Share is a campaign that gives hope to those suffering from drug addiction, and also inspires others to keep working on their recovery. It's a community that offers compassion, support, love, and even informational assistance to those suffering from drug abuse; it also reaches out to the friends and family members who are dealing with a loved one in recovery, or those they have lost previously.
This movement in particular has gained incredible publicity, as it has received over 500 story contributions and was featured on five of the most prominent digital billboards in Times Square in late January. The message was larger than life, offering hope and guidance to the thousands of people suffering from substance addiction. It is especially incredible being that this will be the first time that a non-profit organization working on a health issue was granted this scale of media market exposure at no cost.
Indeed, it warms the heart to know that more and more people are becoming aware of the growing problem of addiction across the country side. Whether it is caused by more people being exposed, or the pain of watching a loved one suffer, or worse, losing them to the addiction, it is a huge gain for the recovering community.
There is a large following of supporters, story tellers, and therapists who support the recovery process and outreach to individuals that suffer from drug abuse.
Recovery from any type of addiction is more of a mental outreach and support process than it is a medical or learning process. Most individuals suffering from substance addiction started out through peer pressure, and it is often by the same way that they kick the habit. Rehabilitation centers often focus on peer, family and medical support, in order to break down the walls addiction put up and lead into a healthier life. It is essentially believed that with more support, compassion, and love, a recovering addict will have that much of a higher chance at attaining and sustaining a drug free life style.
With the hundreds of stories that were contributed to the Hope Share campaign, there's at least one story that can reach a recovering or struggling addict, helping them gain the courage and strength to take the next step into rehabilitation. The powerhouse grant of an ad, which was supplied at no charge, is an incredible boost of support from the population, sending a message to all: Recovery is possible, there are people who want to help, there are people that care and it is important.
It sends a message to the recovering community, that there are people out there who support their decision to get clean, whether or not those people have ever been involved with drug addiction. With these types of campaigns, thousands upon thousands of people can be reached with this same message.
