The Julia Margaret Cameron Award 2010 is open for submissions (women photographers only - worldwide). Winners will be featured in Zoom Magazine (Italy). Organized by WPGA benefiting Save the Children
WPGA has launched a Juried competition for women photographers only: The Julia Margaret Cameron Award. The winner images will be featured in ZOOM Magazine. Juried by leaders of the industry.

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 2, 2009 --The Worldwide Photography Gala Awards ( WPGA – www.thegalaawards.com ) has launched a Juried competition for women photographers only: The Julia Margaret Cameron Award. The winner images will be published in Zoom Magazine. As in other contest organized by WPGA who partner with Save the Children, a large portion of its revenue (entry fees and sales of works in exhibitions) is donated to that humanitarian organization.
The Julia Margaret Cameron Award is addressed to professional and non professional women worldwide, who will compete separately in the following categories:
- Portrait, People and Figure.
- Street photography
- Nude
- Self Portrait
- Children
- Documentary – Reportage, Current affairs and Editorial
- Fashion and Advertising (only Professional section)
- Architecture and Interiors
- Landscapes and Citiscapes
- Nature
Jurors: Mary Ellen Mark, Kim Weston, Alessandra Sanguinetti, Carol McCusker, Olivia Arthur, Vanessa Winship, and Rosanna Checchi, Editor in Chief of Zoom Magazine.
WPGA will be inviting in this occasion photographers working in all mediums, styles and schools of thought. Traditional, contemporary, avant-garde, creative and experimental works that include old and new processes, mixed techniques, and challenging personal, emotional or political statements will be welcome.
The competition will open in November 3nd , 2009. Final deadline: February 28th, 2010. Jurors’ selection will take place during the month of February and March, and the final announcement will be on April 6th 2010.
The entry fees for submitting images to The Julia Margaret Cameron Award will be:
Before the early Bird deadline: $25 for the first 3 images (the minimum of images to submit is 3); $7 each additional image.
After the Early Bird deadline and until the final deadline: $35 for the first 3 images; $10 each additional image.
An image can be submitted to more than one category, counting as an additional image without discount.
All submission can be only done online.
The Julia Margaret Cameron Award will be given to the best photographer in the professional section.
The best photographer in the non professional section will be awarded as Woman New Talent of the Year.
Both winners will receive a cash prize of $3,000, and their works will be published in Zoom Magazine.
The winners in each category will receive a diploma from The Julia Margaret Cameron Award as Outstanding Photographic Achievement in her category.
In every category Honorable mentions will be awarded at discretion of the Jurors. Zoom Magazine will give additional special Honorable Mentions
All awardees, including the honorable mentions of each category will be published in the book “The Julia Margaret Cameron Award 2010”.
All awardees will be invited to exhibit their selected images in Berlin, Germany during the month of September, 2010. The works will be sold –in limited editions of 3- at the exhibition: artists will receive 40% commission; another 40% will be donated to Save the Children, and the remaining 20% will be used for exhibition organizational and promotional costs. Awardees will also be invited to post and sell their images online, in large edition, at affordable prices, where they will get a 60% commission.
