‘The Lalit organizes ‘The Festival of Canacona’ December 29, 2011 to January 01, 2012

Goa: The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group, an enterprise of Bharat Hotels Ltd., organizes the year-end Festival of Canacona – with three distinct events. This is the third year of its annual festival to commemorate the end of the year celebration – unique to the area of Canacona, where the Group has the stunning The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort Goa.

For 2011-2012 three distinct activities have been mounted:- The Lalit Suri Foot Ball Cup December 29 & Exhibition Football Match between Churchill Brothers and The Lalit team on December 30; The Lalit Suri Beach Cycle Polo Exhibition Match on December 31; The Carnival Ano Novo on January 01.

To stimulate youth and the game of football, The Group organizes The Lalit Suri Football Cup in association with The Lions Club of Canacona. This 7-a side inter-club tournament has elicited a huge response from the local football clubs and 14 teams are expected to register. December 28th will see the first & second round matches while on December 29th after the semi final matches, the audience will witness an epic finale. The winner of the specially designed ‘The Lalit Suri Football Cup’ would receive Rs 7777/- as prize money. The runner up would take home a trophy, Rs 4444/- and individual player gifts. All players would be given a participating medallion and gifts along with prizes for the Best Player, Best Goal keeper, The Fair Play team etc.
The biggest encouragement for these inter-club tournament participants will be the opportunity to play in the THE LALIT Team - after the selection of the best 15 players - for The Lalit Suri Exhibition Football Match, vs. the famous Churchill Brothers Team.

The Lalit Suri Beach Cycle Polo Exhibition Match on December 31

After astounding success of The Lalit Suri Beach Polo for the last two consecutive years, Dr. Jyotsna Suri, Chairperson & Managing Director of The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group now hosts The Lalit Suri Beach Cycle Polo 2011. The group is famous for devising innovative ways to promote sports at the destinations they operate in. Keeping up with the tradition, this year The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group will be organizing the first ever The Lalit Suri Cycle Polo Exhibition Match . The match will see internationally renowned Indian Polo players pit their skills against each other amidst the spectacular setting of The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort Goa’s Raj Baga Beach.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa Mr. Digambar Kamat, has consented to be the Guest of Honor for this extremely exciting and unique event.

After two years of immense success, the onset of the year 2012 brings to us for the third time the much anticipated – Carnival Ano Novo. Organized by The Lalit Suri Hospitality Group to celebrate with the residents of the region, the Carnival will have five colourful floats, over 200 costumed folk dancers of the region, lots of music and a spectacular parade. Mr. Manohar T Azgaonkar, Minister of Sports, Government of Goa would be the Chief Guest for the occasion.

The Carnival parade will commence at 3pm, from the porch at The Lalit Golf & Spa Resort Goa – where a special performance will be presented by the local dancers – the parade will then move to Chauri, onto Chear Rasta and finish with an exhilarating spectacle of dance at the popular Palolem beach around 6.30pm. Colossal participation from the last year has got the local community already excited and everyone is expecting this to be a befitting finale to The Festival of Canacona by The Lalit.
