The Learning Hideout to Host Screening of "Including Samuel" to Celebrate Inclusive School Week in Austin, Texas
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 1, 2010 --
Austin, Texas: The Learning Hideout is pleased to announce that December 6-10, 2010 is Inclusive School Week. Classrooms, schools, and communities across the world will highlight and celebrate the progress that schools have made in providing a supportive and quality education to ALL students. It also provides a time for students, educators, and families to discuss what else needs to be done to ensure schools and communities continue to improve their ability to successfully educate ALL children. With the adoption of “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) much needed attention is focused on the achievement gaps of minority students, low-income students, and students with disabilities. Although we have made some progress, there are many more obstacles in narrowing the gap. Inclusion does work! I have seen it my personal life as well as in my working career.
Please join me at The Learning Hideout for a free screening of the documentary, “Including Samuel”. Let’s applaud the progress being made to build more inclusive schools, communities, and society. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
Since the film debuted in November 2007, Including Samuel has been screened at universities, national conferences, and independent theaters across the country. It has also been featured on Good Morning America NOW as well as in the Washington Post and the Boston Globe. Exceptional Parent Magazine call it a “must see” film
Photojournalist, Dan Habib rarely thought about inclusion for children with disabilities before he had his son Samuel. Now he thinks about inclusion every day. Habib documented his family’s efforts to include Samuel in every facet of their lives, a journey that transforms each of them. For more information on Including Samuel visit www.includingsamuel.com.
