The Live Well Project team wants to emphasize the importance of health and confidence to young women through a special day of fitness, health, and self-esteem boosting events. Our target group is 12-19 year old girls living in stressful life situations. The mission is to share how to take care for oneself physically and emotionally. Young girls throughout San Diego have been invited through various organizations, including Becky’s House, Monarch School, San Pasqual Academy, O’Farrell Community School for Advanced Academy, Hoover High School, Garfield High School, Chula Vista High School, Walden Family Services, San Diego Adoption Services, Shakti House, YMCA, Big Sisters, and The Jeanne McAlister Institute.

Youth in stressful situations often turn to drugs, alcohol, smoking, eating disorders, and violence as an escape from what may seem like unchangeable and uncontrollable circumstances. We want to empower them with the knowledge and confidence they need to build strong lives for themselves.

"I believe it only takes a spark. A glimpse of the benefits of health and an assurance that it can be achieved simply with adequate knowledge opens up doors: new friends, curiosity of more health education, easy and inexpensive cooking techniques, seeking out mentors, being challenged, new horizons and boundless opportunities." said Michelle Weinstein, president of Optimal Nutrition Inc. "Most importantly, it paves the road to emotional and physical well-being."
