The Orange Conference, a premiere gathering for church leaders who influence the next generation, has an inspiring and varied list of keynote speakers slated for this April. The 2011 event, “It’s Your Move,” will speak to the Orange Strategy of partnering families with the church to have a greater impact on the faith of young people, who are leaving the church at an alarming rate. As always, this year’s conference will draw together thousands of speakers, authors, church leaders and performers who want to improve the traditional church model. Leading the charge from the main stage this year are:

• Geoffrey Canada is a noted social activist, educator, author and President/CEO of Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ), whose work and knowledge can currently be seen in “Waiting for Superman,” a documentary about the U.S. education system now out on DVD.

• Perry Noble is the founding and senior pastor of NewSpring Church, which has three campuses in S.C. and in 10 years, has grown to over 10,000 members.

• Gordon MacDonald is an author, speaker and teacher. He was a pastor for more than 40 years, and has written more than a dozen books and co-authored additional titles with his wife, Gail. He writes regularly for Leadership where he also serves as Editor-at-Large.

• Dr. Kara E. Powell serves as an Assistant Professor in Youth and Family Ministry and the Executive Director of the Fuller Youth Institute. She has authored more than 10 books and studies.

• Eric Draper served eight years as Special Assistant to the President of the United States as well White House Photographer during the presidency of George W. Bush. He was privileged to travel to 70 countries and document every historic event of the 43rd president’s time in office as well as numerous private events.

• Sue Miller joined Orange in 2005 after 17 years of leading Promiseland children’s ministry at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Ill. Sue was instrumental in leading the change process that grew Promiseland into a cutting-edge ministry known world wide.

• Doug Fields has been a respected youth ministry leader for over two decades. He has authored or coauthored more than 30 books. Doug is also the president of www.SimplyYouthMinistry.com as well as being a frequent presenter at Youth Specialties events.

• Ron Hall is the co-author of Same Kind of Different As Me, a book retelling the unlikely friendship between himself, a big city art dealer, and his now best friend, Denver, a formerly homeless drifter who had lived a life of picking cotton in virtual slavery. Currently being developed for a feature film with Samuel L. Jackson as Denver, the book sat on The New York Times Best Seller list for over 85 weeks.

• Reggie Joiner is the founder and CEO of Orange. He is the co-author of Slow Fade, Parenting Beyond Your Capacity, Seven Practices of Effective Ministries and the author of Think Orange: Imagine the Impact When Church and Family Collide. Prior to Orange, Reggie was also one of the founding pastors, along with Andy Stanley, of North Point Community Church in Alpharetta, Ga.

• Jud Wilhite serves as Senior Pastor of Central Christian Church in Las Vegas. Thousands attend Central’s campuses along with a global community who attend online. Jud is the author of several books including Eyes Wide Open, Uncensored Grace and the forthcoming Throw It Down.

• Carey Nieuwhof is the lead pastor of Connexus Community Church, a multi-campus church north of Toronto and strategic partner of North Point Community Church. Carey co-authored Parenting Beyond Your Capacity with Reggie Joiner.

• As Make It Right’s Communications Director, Taylor Royle oversees the organization’s public relations, community involvement, website and social media. She has twelve years experience working with journalists, including service as Deputy Communications Director and spokeswoman at Bono’s One Campaign and senior press officer at Oxfam International.

• Shauna Niequist worked in Student Ministries at Willow Creek for five years, and as the Creative Director at Mars Hill in Grand Rapids for three years. After six years in Grand Rapids, the Niequists decided to move back to their hometown, where Shauna recently finished her latest book, Bittersweet.

• Known for his vibrant teaching skills and passion for communicating the Scriptures in a clear and relevant way, Jeff Manion has served as teaching pastor of Ada Bible Church in West Michigan for more than 25 years. His church of 6,000 attendees was named by Outreach magazine as one of America’s largest and fastest growing churches in 2009.

• David Kinnaman is the President of Barna Group. He is the author of the best-selling book, unChristian: What a New Generation Really Thinks About Christianity, and the Barna report, Teens and the Supernatural. Since joining Barna in 1995, he has designed and analyzed nearly 500 projects for a variety of clients, including Compassion, Habitat for Humanity, Integrity Media, NBC-Universal, Sony, Thomas Nelson, Time-Life, World Vision, Zondervan and many others.

The Orange Conference will be held at the Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Ga., Wednesday, April 27 through Friday, April 29, 2011. Entering its fifth year, this highly anticipated event will gather thousands from around the world, including key speakers, authors, church leaders, entertainers and thinkers to rethink the way that the traditional church model approaches family ministry.
