The Penny Bear Company, a non-profit organization, was recently honored by the Diamond Volunteer Program. A reception was held to honor their volunteers on February 25, 2010. This was the second in the line of three winning non-profit groups for 2010; the Penny Bear Company was awarded the Diamond Volunteer Award by Kelly E. Capolino, local real estate professional and presenter of the 2010 program. The award honors and recognizes well deserving volunteers in our community.
The reception was held in the private residence of Dan Ressler of Aqualane Shores. “It was great to be given the chance to help with this amazing program. The ladies from The Penny Bear Company truly graced my home.”
“This is an organization with such an important message of love and nurturing that sometimes gets overlooked, and I was so proud to present this award to them,” said Kelly Capolino. “The volunteers that I met were caring souls that really lived out the philosophy that the Penny Bears embody, of gentle love and kindness.”
Capolino added, “Founding the Diamond Volunteer Program and knowing that non-profits are hurting for donations to keep their organizations alive ... I have pledged of 15% of my commission to the organization if a client mentions Penny Bear Company when buying or listing. This is just one more way that they can do fundraising.”
The Penny Bear Company creates and donates teddy bears, full to bursting with stuffing and love. They share a message of hope and comfort to all ages by providing a friend to hold on to through difficult times. Penny Bear is also involved in numerous community outreach programs, such as Circles of Hope, a support group for those ill or grieving, and the Penny Bear Friendship Club, a school program promoting respect, kindness, and the importance of building meaningful friendships.
"The evening was a very special one for us" said Penny Wigglesworth, founder and president. "Since the organization is based both here in Naples and in Massachusetts, it was a wonderful opportunity for both groups to meet each other and share their connection to Penny Bear. Also, it gave me a chance to thank all these caring volunteers who truly help make a difference ... one bear, one person at a time. The reception was lovely and we were deeply touched to have been chosen."
Penny Wigglesworth accepted the award that read: “Giving comfort, compassion, friendship, and love unconditional to any and all in need. Healing hearts with warmth and a hug. Offering hope for a gentler world and a happier future.”
