FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 1, 2009 --
Some said Bill Clinton's recent visit to North Korea upstaged his wife, Hilary Rodham Clinton, Secretary of State. However, Bill has been slowly plodding on in the background, as a quiet achiever. He has not only received many awards from universities such as Tulane University, University of Michigan, University of Hong Kong, Pace University's Lubin School of Business, Rochester Institute of Technology and Knox College, he has been widely recognized for his humanitarian work.
Many expected Clinton, the 42nd President of the United States, to die a natural death, after having been in office from 1993 – 2001. Yet, in spite of the negative publicity over the Monica Lewinsky affair and other allegations of sexual misconduct, plus surviving an impeachment, Clinton received the highest end-of-office rating, of 66%, of any president, since World War II.
Clinton has been involved in public speaking and humanitarian work, which covers the cure of HIV/AIDS, to global warming. Clinton was the first white person to be inducted into the Arkansas Black Hall of Fame, in 2002. Clinton's presidential library has the largest number of archives of any presidential library.
The tallest building in Pristina, Kosovo, has been engraved with a picture of the former president. Also there is a road named Clinton Boulevard. There is a larger than life-size statue of Clinton, in Ballybunion Ireland, commemorating the game of golf he played there.
According to the publishers, Knopf Publishing Group at Random House, Clinton's autobiography sold 400,000 copies, as well as setting a new world record for single-day non-fiction book sales. It was later released as an audio book. Clinton received an advance writer's fee of $12 million. The audio version of his 2007 book, How Each Of Us Can Change The World, was nominated for a 2008 Grammy Award, in the category of the Best Spoken Work Album.
On May 3, 2005 Clinton came to an understanding with major soft drink manufacturers, through the William J. Clinton Foundation, to stop selling sugared sodas and juice drinks, in public primary and secondary schools within the U.S.
During her run for president Hilary Clinton was backed by her husband, but when she was defeated, Bill supported Barak Obama. Bill was announced as United Nations Special Envoy to Haiti in 2009.
