FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) September 22, 2009 -- H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden inaugurated ClimateWell®’s new factory in Soria, Spain on the 22nd of September 2009. ClimateWell®, which is developing a solar-powered air-conditioner, is a Global Cleantech 100 company. The Swedish monarch honored the company at the inauguration, accompanied by a delegation from the Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences.

The plant in Soria, located 200 km north of Madrid, is ClimateWell®’s first own mass production factory. It is the first and only Solar Cooling® machinery factory in the world. Today the factory employs 25 people and produces 1 000 units a year.

ClimateWell®’s technology stores energy from a solar panel in a battery using salt. The energy can then be used to generate either cooling or heating. The technology works best in countries with high temperature where solar energy is abundant and the demand for air conditioning is great, while heating may be necessary during winter and nights.

The company is progressing rapidly and has already booked orders for more than 1 000 machines. Customers are served in many countries, including Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Belgium, Dubai, India and Australia. ClimateWell® had sales of 3.7 million Euros in 2008, which was an almost tenfold increase compared to 2007.

ClimateWell®'s largest shareholders are The Swedish Industrial Development Fund, Skirner Energy Invest AB, Northzone Ventures AB and the Spanish investment company Utilsun SL.
The inauguration of the new plant took place in front of 250 guests, including Fred Anderson, Chairman of ClimateWell AB and Luis Malo de Molina, President of ClimateWell Ibérica. Anders Rönnqvist, the Swedish ambassador in Spain, will also attend.

H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf is the honorary president of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and the King is in Spain with IVA's Royal Technology Mission. The aim was to visit the company’s innovative approach in the use of new technologies and their application.

“We are greatly honored by the visit from His majesty the King and the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. It supports our efforts to achieve ClimateWell®’s vision of one billion tones less CO2” says Per Olofsson, the Group CEO.
