I'm in most cases superior about reading through a book in advance of it's turned into a movie or Tv demonstrate. I go through Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone just before the first of all film came out, Chamber of Techniques shortly before it came out on movie, and the rest of the textbooks lengthy ahead of they constructed it to the great display. I was a fan of Sookie Stackhouse and had examine all but the hottest two of Charlaine Harris's guides about her prior to tuning in to the Legitimate Blood Tv series. I read Twilight ahead of it was a film, then read through New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn in a mad studying binge prior to I'd noticed a single preview of the New Moon movie.

When it comes to http://www.tvrage.com/the_vampire_diaries, though, I dove into watching the Television series though barely conscious of L. J. Smith's books. I realized very little about Elena Gilbert or the Salvatore brothers earlier than I tuned to for the premiere.

I've last of all gotten all over to perusing the to start with guide in the series, The Awakening. A single of my FaceBook good friends warned me the guides ended up very little like the sequence. I was instead skeptical about that how several could it definitely be?, I wondered. My skepticism was misplaced. The book is highly completely different.

On Tv, Elena has striking dark hair and brown eyes, as does her historical, vampire counterpart, Katherine. In the guide, Elena and Catherine are blondes with lapis lazuli-blue eyes. The setting of the exhibit is Mystic Falls in New England the book is set in Fell's Church, in the South. Tv Elena has a teenage brother guide Elena has a 4-12 months-aged sister. Television Aunt Judith doesn't have a boyfriend book Judith is engaged to a guy named Bob. Bonnie is varied: African-American on Television, she's a not so big, white woman with curly red hair in the guide. The character of Meredith didn't even make it onto the screen.

The most important variance, while, has to be in Stefan and Damon Salvatore. On Tv, they were born and raised in Mystic Falls and grew to become vampires in the Civil War era. Potentially this was only a bit of Correct Blood rivalry, although. In the publications, the Salvatores are from Italy and quite a bit, much older. The acquired their supernatural powers for the duration of the Renaissance.

I don't especially like Elena Gilbert. She's a silly, shallow, self-centered creature, the kind of stereotypically very, well-known teenage woman who may make genuine teenage women blush with shame. The Television version of Elena is the same way, but the book requires the stereotype a wee bit additional by creating her a Southern lady. Elena Gilbert is definitely the vacuous ice princess Scarlett O'Hara (who was actually somewhat intelligent, but played dumb to draw in boys) was pretending to be. In comparison to Elena, Scarlett is a Jimmy Carter-esque humanitarian. A lot ado has been produced about Bella Swan's helpless, self-destructive behavior in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, but Elena could put on that crown just as quite simply.

Nor is L. J. Smith's composing type a particularly literary one. She can be forgiven for this, probably, because she's writing for a young adult audience. The easy-breezy, style-mag tone of the guide is sick-suited to its dark topic materials. It's like Elena mistakenly fell off the cover of Teen Vogue and into a pulp horror novel. For viewers with a lot more innovative tastes, this will hardly do.

Nonetheless, there's anything intriguing about the storyline that keeps me from seeking to give up on this entire series. Sure, Elena is dumb, and Damon on paper is as detestable as he is on Tv. The beating heart of this vampire series, ironically, is Stefan. Like Edward Cullen, he's a vampire "vegetarian," preferring to hunt animals fairly than men and women. As opposed to Edward, he helps make an occasional slip. He has all of Edward's Byronic, tortured mojo not having Edward's regrettable, stalker-ish tendencies
