They Had Me at Meow Is a Loving Tribute to Homeless Cats

(Free-Press-Release.com) January 18, 2010 -- SAN FRANCISCO, CA – January 19, 2010 – They Had Me at Meow: Tails of Love from the Homeless Cats of Buster Hollow is a collection of photos and funny poignant stories about a colony of homeless cats that award-winning author Rosie Sorenson discovered in her neighborhood over 13 years ago. The book, for which Sorenson won a 2009 Muse Medallion Award from the International Cat Writers’ Association, describes how the relationship with her beloved Buster Hollow cats changed Sorenson’s life, helping her cope with a succession of serious medical problems.

The book has received endorsements from animal welfare organizations such as The Humane Society of the United States and Alley Cat Rescue as well as from Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson, best selling author who writes about the human-animal bond, and film and television actor, Ed Asner.

“They Had Me at Meow is a tribute to all homeless cats and a reminder that every animal, regardless of his or her circumstances, is remarkable and deserving of love,” said Sorenson. “I wrote the book to as a way to thank the cats for letting me into their lives as well as to inspire others to help. The rewards have been quite surprising.”

Readers of They Had Me at Meow are offered an intimate glimpse into the lives of many of the cats in Sorenson’s group. Among them is Turtleman, who Sorenson eventually took into her home. Also featured are Buster, and Thelma (pictured on the cover) and Louise – who found homes with the help of a cat rescue group – and more.
