Why: Promote respect and understanding in a diverse community
Who: Building Bridges Coalition, a 501C-3 not-for-profit interfaith multi-ethnic social group
Third Annual Building Bridges Coalition Interfaith Walk on Sunday, September 13
(Staten Island, NY, 9/12/09) Under the title “Reflection and Hope,” the Building Bridges Coalition of Staten Island will hold its 2009 interfaith walk this Sunday, September 13. “We're a place where people feel comfortable no matter what faith,” said Mona Zaloom, the event coordinator.
Consisting of 3 half hour events in 3 different houses of worship and a walk (or drive) in between. The program starts 2:00 P.M. at Mt. Sinai United Christian Church, 16 Pike St. (off Victory Blvd) in the Tompkinsville area of Staten Island. Following is a walk towards The Albanian Islamic Cultural Center, 307 Victory Blvd, stop there for a prayer. We’ll continue walking to Trinity Lutheran Church, 309 St Pauls Ave, then a 5-mile drive to The Staten Island Buddhist Temple at 15 John St in Port Richmond.
Building Bridges Coalition of Staten Island is a 501C-3 not-for-profit interfaith multi-ethnic social group. Its mission is to build bridges of understanding and respect in our diverse community, share common concerns, and develop community programs. Current members are individuals and houses of worship of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, and Buddhist backgrounds.
