Welcome visit Our WebSite:
http://tripawds.com/2011/03/01/from-oaktown-to-hollywood-codie-rae-leaps-into-stardom/ When most people see a three legged dog, they usually say something like “Oh, poor dog!” But one rambunctious rescue dog from the mean streets of Oakland is doing her best to persuade people to ditch the pity and celebrate the courage of canine amputees, thanks to her Hollywood debut in rock musician Patrick Stump's new video, “Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia).” The video can be seen at http://wp.me/pcAJ7-18K.
Celebrating the Courage of Canine Amputees
Three legged rescue dog and Tripawds.com member Codie Rae plays an essential role in Stump's just-released video. She is seen making a passionate jump over a tall hurdle as Stump sings the song’s chorus, “You can be your own spotlight.” Her courageous effort unfolds throughout the inspirational clip, playing a pivotal part in this beautifully illustrated montage that showcases ordinary kids and adults performing extraordinarily offbeat talents. The song's central theme of being your own superstar, no matter how odd or inconsequential your uniqueness is, brilliantly spotlights the extraordinary that is within everyone, including canines. Coincidentally, Stump says he grew up with a three legged cat named Marzipan.
Music video director Joe Wein says, “I think Codie really makes the video.” Wein contacted tripawds after considering the concept of including an inspirational three legged dog to help convey the song’s message. Tripawds co-founder Jim Nelson knew Codie Rae was the perfect dog for the job since, “she’s a perfect example that dogs are born with three legs and a spare.”
From the Mean Streets of Oakland to Hollywood Fame
Codie Rae's story is the stuff rescue dogs' dreams are made of. Found on the streets of Oakland in 2006, abused and abandoned with a leg so mangled it had to be amputated, she may not have been spared euthanasia if it wasn't for a volunteer from German Shepherd Rescue of Northern California who spotted her willful passion to live. When a potential owner was unsure about Codie's ability to thrive on three legs, the canine amputee support group Tripawds.com was able to provide all the reassurance she needed to make the decision to adopt Codie.
Tripawds Provides Reassurance to Adoptive Parents
Since 2006, Tripawds has been the world’s leading resource for those facing amputation for their dogs. Whether a person is coping with a bone cancer diagnosis for their dog or considering adopting a dog who is already missing a leg, the Tripawds community is the largest online resource for comprehensive tips and advice about life on three legs. Each day, members of the Tripawds Blogs community share support, tips, advice, movies and inspirational tales of canine cancer survivors and other “tripod” dogs.
Codie Rae, a Media Darling
Within the first 24 hours of Stump's video release, Codie Rae has developed a new fan following. Comments left on the video's YouTube page include:
* The dog made me cry o.o”
* “perfect editting–slow motion dog running on the most building part of the song~”
* “I almost started to cry, that dog is just so beautiful!”
* “I wish I had three legs too… “
* “I’m not really sure why, but this video made me cry when it came to the German Shepherd.”
* “When I saw that dog with no leg manage a leap I almost cried :’)”
* “Thumbs up for the awesome three legged dog :D ”
Codie Rae's guardian, Martha Lowe, believes that Codie's role in Stump's video will advance public awareness for tripawds everywhere. “People have a hard time believing that three legged dogs can do just about anything a four legger can do. Who knows how many three legged dogs will find homes because of her role in this video? We're thrilled!”
About Tripawds.com
Founders Jim Nelson and Rene Agredano started Tripawds.com after their own dog Jerry was diagnosed with bone cancer in 2006, and had his leg amputated to extend his quality of life. The site shares photos, videos and the stories of others to help prove, “It’s better to hop on three legs than to limp on four.” The couple founded Tripawds to show other dog parents that the loss of a limb doesn't mean the end of a good quality of life.
