Dr. Lamont also advices that the action plan for having a strong resilient Fire Safety and Rescue plan is mostly in building owners and managers hands. “They can significantly increase safety by developing and following a regular testing and maintenance regime to ensure all of the fire safety systems in their building are reliable and effective.”

On 27-28 February 2012, Doha will host professionals involved in fire safety and rescue operations at the Fire Safety and Rescue Qatar, a conference being organized by Fleming Gulf. Although the event is inaugurating in Qatar this year, a similar event held in Dubai last year debuted with over 200 participants. Due to requests received by the organizers from the Qatari fire safety community, Fleming Gulf is bringing the event to Qatar to discuss crucial issues unique to Qatar.

Dr. Lamont's presentation will focus on fire strategies for modern building design in the Middle East, and will address the benefits and pit falls of performance based design. She will also highlight the importance of the fire engineer’s involvement through all stages of the design, construction, handover and beyond.

Based on current market needs, Fire Safety and Rescue Qatar conference is a useful platform to create frameworks and strategies specific to requirements which will set the standards for a lasting change.
