Easter Seals North Texas announces Tom Thumb donation
FORT WORTH, Texas – Easter Seals North Texas has received a donation of $226,631.33, from Tom Thumb, which was raised during April’s Autism Awareness Month at Tom Thumb stores across the Dallas - Fort Worth area. The money will enable Easter Seals North Texas to continue its mission to assist children and adults with autism and other disabilities, as well as their families.
“Tom Thumb has been a continuing major supporter of Easter Seals North Texas’ services for children with disabilities,” said Monica Prather Smyth, President and CEO of Easter Seals North Texas. “The enthusiasm and commitment of Tom Thumb and its employees makes a tremendous impact on the lives of thousands of children and their families. We are very thankful for their generosity and for all they do for our community.”
Each April, Tom Thumb stores, along with all Safeway Inc. stores across the nation, raise funds and create awareness about autism and other disabilities by asking shoppers to donate to Easter Seals at checkout stands. This year was the second year in a row that Tom Thumb stores and North Texas shoppers raised more than $225,000 from the more than 60 Tom Thumb stores in the DFW area.
“Tom Thumb is honored to be a part of the Easter Seals mission to provide services and support to children and adults with disabilities,” said Connie Yates, Director of Public Affairs, Tom Thumb. “We are grateful to our generous customers and associates who helped make this donation possible.”
