TOP TEN INDIE GUITARIST
GW Williams guitar playing and music popularity lies in GW's inventive guitar style mixed with old school music and guitar theory roots for chords, guitar scales and creative melodies.
GW Williams on rock or blues guitar sounds like 2 or 3 men playing guitar at once,GW can play rhythm ,bass and lead guitar all at the same time. His hot guitar licks are creatively beautiful and a guitarist work of art.
His sound is a combination of 4 styles of guitar music and his knowledge of jazz is off the scale and beyond what most rock and blues guitar players will ever understand.
His guitar and band have created a sound recognizable already by millions in the Indie music scene.
And already he's sold 2 albums to fans world wide.
And as a top guitarist and singing Indie artist he's making over $85,000.00 a month by estimated articles online.
His new Album to be released titled, " Acoustic Blues, Electric Rock, Acoustic Jazz " is soon to be a smash hit CD world wide.
GW Williams is so good on guitar that he was voted on an Internet Poll as The Greatest Rock Blues Guitar Player living today.
His high acclaimed new CD is so invented that many followers of guitar and guitar music world wide now realize that GW Williams may have created a new style of playing acoustic guitar and his new acoustic song titled - ACOUSTIC GUITAR ROCK N ROLL BLAST OFF - is off the charts, it's a new guitar style never really heard before, yet so amazing that I had to hear the song over and over again 25 to 30 times.I have never been more impressed by a guitarist creative style than I have with this new CD.
So far only a handful of these CD's have been passed out to radio stations and people like me who review music before it's release date.
I must say there are 10 songs on this CD and no weak songs. Any of these songs could become an instant top 10 hit in mainstream music and not just Indie music.
GW Williams popularity is already heading into mainstream music. He's known world wide already as a great guitar players and singer.
But I must say his new CD is fun to listen to, this is GW Williams at his rock n blues guitar playing jazziest best. He's loaded the CD with 4 Electric Rock and Blues Guitar Songs back by his Band and he has 6 acoustic guitar songs that will amaze anyone willing to listen.
I predict guitar players and guitar pro's and music lovers everywhere will add this new CD to there collection.
I think guitarist world wide will spend years trying to figure out how GW Williams played some of these songs. This without doubt is the most acoustical sounding recording of guitars I have ever heard.
On his CD GW Williams used the same guitars he uses in concerts. His 2 favorite acoustic guitars are his Ovation legend 1777 LX and his 25 year old Ovation Legend 1717 which many think this guitar is worth $25,000.00 in near perfect gem condition. He also plays electric guitar using a custom Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty Guitar and Fender Blues Tub Amp.
HIs Studio is loaded with over $50,000.00 of studio equipment, including a huge Peavy Mixing consol and Tascam digital multi-track recording unit and tons of rack mount effects equipment, reverb's, equalizers and much more.
I had a chance to call GW Williams and ask him about recording arts today, I ask him what he thought of people recording music on computers and selling it online.
Here's his thoughts on that subject - GW responded saying - I feel people can record using a computer to learn about recording and use it as a tool only, but the sound they're achieving is still not good enough to sell as a professional recording. Sure some people sell jingles that way or background tracks but that's not recording a professional hit song either. My advice is for musicians to slowly build a recording studio, learn about recording arts and the Music Industry.
Any great recorded CD will sound great in stereo with headphones while listening straight out of a CD player with no bass or treble added by a stereo amplifier of any kind. The CD will also sound great in any car stereo or on any home stereo system including a boom box or on a computer.
When you can do all these things and also create a great sound with a perfect stereo field of left and right balances allowing each instrument it's own place within the stereo field of a song. Then you have the makings of a great recording as long as you capture a truly great musical performance.
Today a great many people are recording music using keyboards trying to act as if they have a whole band. And I understand why they do this, to make people believe they have a band and because they dream of making millons of dollars and becoming famous.
First off, you'll never become famous or rich if you can't play in concert the songs write.
I'd advise anyone to study hard and learn to become a great musician and record truly great musical performances, and to never record a ton of drums and keyboard parts into a recording.
Every instrument in a song must have a reason for being in the song, many songs by amateurs musicians recording, would be far better off, if they left out instruments and keyboard parts they can't play well in the first place. Only use Instruments in a song that say something about the song, you don't need a wall of sound to compete with over CD's and records. Just be the best at what you do and don;t become a one man band. If you play guitar great and sing good but never learned drums or keyboard then leave out those things you can't do. You stand a better chance of making it then.
I spent years playing guitar and learning drums, keyboard and I am a professional sound engineer in a studio also. It takes years to study , maybe even a full lifetime to make your dreams come true.
I know in the real world, most people can tell the difference between real music and someone faking it.
It's far better to record 1 instrument and capture a real performance on CD.
Think of it this way, when you go to a concert you want to see the real thing, no lip synched, no keyboard player pretending to play while a recorded part is playing on the keyboard instead. Too many bands are doing this and it shows and their music suffers greatly.
So learn to record and capture a great performance on multi-track,if you can't do it, your not ready to record yet...so you need to learn to become the real deal, a real musician because it shows in your concerts and in your recordings.
I rather listen to a Great guitar player any day or a great pianist than a bunch of prerecorded music on a keyboard.
And if you ask most of the people they'd say the same thing !!
Next you need real recording equipment, not just a computer with what claims to have a computer mixer onboard...trust me it's no where close to being the same as a real studio, and I don;t care what anyone online trys to tell you. Most of the Internet posts about creating professional music using only a keyboard was created to suck in people dreaming of making money online selling their music.
Well let me tell you your online music career will be short lived.
The reason why is simple, your music if done on computer will 99.999 percent of the time lack a real life feel.
What you want is your music breath life by recording real acoustic instruments and vocals along with electric guitars and keyboards, and use the best of both acoustic and digital.
One of the very first places to start is by purchasing a great mixing consol or professional sound board.
You want a real sound board, with real eq's and and real routing, real pan pots.real 100mm floating faders.
The warmth of the sound through a real sound board makes a huge difference that a computer can not do.
Most people should think again if they really believe a computer costing only $2000.00 using musical interface software could really do the job of a $15,000.00 to $30,000.00 mixing console plus another $25,000.00 of rack mount units added to it.
It's sad but some people believe it's true, yet anyone can listen to computer based music and know without doubt it's not live and unreal sounding.
I feel CD's of recorded music should always have a full warm and live stereo sound, even if it's only 1 guitarist playing or a whole band.
I do know if someone wears a set of head phones listening to my music, they'll know the music is beautifully recorded in awesome stereo.
My advice to anyone recording is to try get your music to sound rich and full with bright rich highs and perfect clear defined lows with no muddy sounds.
My advise to people wanting to use reverb is to go easy on reverb when recording acoustic guitars, and it's better to record the acoustic guitar on the left side using only a mic into your sound system, and on the right side running from a cord out of the back of the guitar through your sound system also. This allows for fullness of the guitar running out of the guitar using a cord to the sound system .... and allows for the acoustic sound of the guitar while being in front of a mic when both are recorded at the same time.
Another way to achieve a great stereo acoustic guitar sound is to record the rhythms on left and right separately. This will cause a slight phasing sound that you can hear when wearing headphones and makes for a beautiful studio quality acoustic guitar recording.
You do this by recording hard left playing on one track and then hard right on the other track.
