San Francisco, CA --- January 5, 2012 --- Transmedia SF, a new community group dedicated to promoting transmedia creatives and tech producers, announced today that it will begin hosting a series of events for the burgeoning transmedia communities in the SF Bay Area. The first Transmedia SF event will showcase the work of an independent producer, Justin Oliphant and a transmedia technology company founder, Hope Hutman. The event will be held on January 30 from 6:30-9:30pm in San Francisco at RocketSpace on 181 Freemont Street.
“The promise of transmedia is that we utilize all of the technologies at our disposal to create and tell stories that engage and entertain audiences in new and personal ways,“ said Beth Rogozinski, CEO of D2S Games and a co-founder of the Transmedia SF group. “With our first event, we will begin by defining transmedia, the mission of our group and presenting media producers who are out there in the real world creating and distributing innovative media projects.”
The evening’s presenters will include Maya Zuckerman, a transmedia producer, consultant and co-founder of Transmedia SF, who will present definitions of transmedia and an overview of the new community group. Justin Oliphant, a creative director at Reverie Digital, VFX Editor at Atomic Fiction and independent producer, will discuss his vision of transmedia and his recently launched Zoetic Labs project. Hope Hutman, a television and media producer and founder of the Telefon Projekt, will present her work with Hollywood studios, brands and agencies and her perspectives on how transmedia is evolving.
“With these events, we want to celebrate and build this community and provide them access to information, education, networking and eventually even funding,” said Andre Champagne, film and video producer and co-founder of Transmedia SF. “Our intention is to provide an environment where media and content experts, agencies and brand managers, and technologists and funders can come together to push the boundaries of this new method of story telling and create innovative tools and interactive narratives.”
In addition to the educational aspects of the evening, the Transmedia SF event is being sponsored by NOS Energy Drink, RocketSpace, D2S Games and Transmedia Capital. Transmedia SF and participating sponsors will provide drinks and food for all attendees during the networking portion of the event. Additionally, after formal panel, all attendees will have an opportunity to announce their projects, needs or desires to the community during our “60 Second SoapBox” presentations.

About Transmedia SF
Transmedia SF is a network of SF Bay Area media and start-up creatives who come together to develop our own projects, to promote and educate the world about transmedia storytelling, and to make San Francisco a center for transmedia production and education. San Francisco is a natural hub for transmedia since it boasts robust creative, technical, media and education communities. Our vision is to create the SF ASIS – San Francisco Agency, Studio, Incubator, Salon – that brings together media, ad and PR agencies, creative content development teams, tech and media start-ups, and educators and transmedia visionaries to jointly promote transmedia and SF as a core center for transmedia developments.

About Hope Hutman:
Hope is President and Co-Founder of Telefon Projekt whose technology allows content creators to produce experiences in which conversations – actual spoken dialog or text exchanges – between real people and virtual or fictional characters impact the flow of a narrative. The conversations can be integrated with any media that can delivered over the internet – video, animation, social media, etc – allowing what a person says to control what’s seen on screen.
Prior to founding Telefon Projekt Hope was Senior Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Ask Jeeves, where she managed relationships between the search provider and strategic content partners, coordinated expansion and renewal of services, and guaranteed that key performance metrics were achieved. Hope also worked as a producer for the Discovery Channel, developing sponsors and managing production for several television series.
About Telefon Projekt:
Telefon Projekt creates robust, fully reciprocal social relationships between brands and their customers. We provide a scalable way for brands, storytellers, and celebrities to have conversations with their fans - actual spoken dialogs or extended text exchanges.
About Justin Oliphant:
It's been an exciting road for Justin. Starting in high school creating his own television show, founding the Student Cable TV station at UCSC, as well as completing his first feature all before completing college. Justin prefers to work by just doing it, head first.
After graduating he started The Last Laugh SF, which was a group of actors, writers and directors looking to develop what online content was transforming into. Through the successes he had with that he continued to make films while working for ImageMovers Digital, which was a motion capture animation studio backed by Disney.
By the time ImageMovers Digital shut its doors he headed off on his first Transmedia project, making himself the central character. By using his social network, Justin connected himself with friends and friends of friends as he travelled across the US, Canada and Europe for over 6 months. His Friend of a Friend Project became a collection of photos, videos and stories from all the people and places he met during that time.
After his travels he landed back in San Francisco looking to create more Transmedia projects while connecting with the community at large. Currently his newest project Zoetic Labs has 3 robots essentially picking up where he left off and traveling social networks documenting the best things about human life.
About Zoetic Labs:
Zoetic Labs is a project developing the storytelling techniques of social and trans-media.
Set in a semi-fictional world, Professor Henry Lightman is working on figuring out if there is any truth to the idea that the world might come to an end on December 21, 2012. Though skeptical, he and his wife create 3 robots whose sole purpose is to wander the globe collecting what the best things of human life are. The hope is that if for some reason the world does end they will have documented the best parts of what it means to be human, educating whatever beings come after us what it meant to be human. And if the world doesn't end, hopefully people will appreciate the incredible things around them.
Fans can follow Thadeus, Nova and Hubert Botman (the robots) and their adventures as it develops on Facebook. As for Henry his story unfolds on Google+ throughout the course of 2012.
About Maya Zuckerman:
Maya has a rich and diverse background in Film, Animation, Video Games and form of media. She started her career as a QA and Animator during in an Israeli startup company where she is from. The company was almost bought by Dreamworks and when that failed to happen she moved to Canada to study in the Vancouver Film School and launched her career there – working on Much Music music videos. She later moved to the states and worked on MTV’s Video Mods, Yahoo Mods, Shark Boy and Lava Girl and an array of game trailers and independent films.
She is currently working on incubating TransmediaSF as a meetup and incubator and working with an app startup as well. In her past time she runs World Wide Good News – a youtube channel that brings the personal narratives of extraordinary people.
