Vancouver, BC “ January 3, 2012 “ Canadian authors Teresa de Grosbois and Charmaine Hammond have amassed a great deal of experience with writing and marketing international best-selling books. At a one-day workshop in Metro Vancouver on Friday, Feb. 8, they want to share what they have learned with others who aspire to be successful authors, but are not sure what it takes to go all the way with publishing and selling a book. Others, who may already have box-loads of books gathering dust in their garage, will walk away with some great tools for selling those books.

Keys lessons participants in this workshop will learn are:

Why making your book a business is critical - the top mistakes would-be authors make and how to avoid them.

What publishers want, how to get them to pay attention, and the six things publishers want authors to know.

How the bestseller lists, including the New York Times, work and what lists to go for.

How to get hundreds of influential people talking about your book.

Six strategies to build your platform, sell books by the box, and get ongoing media attention.

Charmaine Hammond, business owner for 16 years, is an international transformational speaker, radio host, and two-time #1 international best-selling and award-winning author of several books. Her book œOn Toby's Terms, a story about the life lessons her beguiling adopted dog teaches her, is now being developed into a major motion picture. Hammond is coming out with two new children's books in early 2013 called œToby Says Be a Buddy Not a Bully and œToby and His Forever Family. This year, Hammond, a former prison guard, will doing presentations at prisons and U.S. military bases in California, speaking about Toby's story. She is also the author of œBounce Forward, which has helped thousands of people to live an inspired, resilient life, and she co-authored the hot new book œGPS Your Best Life “ Charting Your Destination & Getting There in Style.

œI have learned a great deal about the book and publishing industry, and want to pay forward my learnings to other authors, and help them treat their book like a business, Hammond says. œHopefully I can prevent some authors from making costly mistakes or pursuing activities that don't produce results.

Just back from an international speaking tour in the UK and India, Teresa De Grosbois is an international speaker sought by entrepreneurs and large corporations to better understand how local word of mouth can suddenly turn epidemic. Specializing in the topics of influence and success, she has a proven track-record in understanding word of mouth epidemics, having taken three children's books she wrote “ œFiona's Fortitude, œJolo's Two Bedrooms and œThe Presents' Presents “ to best-seller status in only eight months. De Grosbois also teaches business and marketing courses around the globe, including teaching courses to start-up entrepreneurs in developing countries. As Chair of the Evolutionary Business Council, she leads an international, invitation-only council of speakers and influencers, who are dedicated to teaching the principles of success, and has just launched a program to bring business training to developing countries in Africa and to India.

œBecoming a bestselling author is one of the simplest ways to really step into your passions and change your life, de Grosbois says. œMy hope is that this workshop will inspire people to really create the life they dream of by being a successful writer.
