U.S. and International Food Law Distance Education Certificate Program - winner of the ADEC Excellence Award in College and University Distance Education.

The Institute for Food Laws & Regulations offers nine (9) U.S. and international food law courses through the Lifelong Education Program at Michigan State University.

Lansing, Michigan, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) August 24, 2010 -- Applications are now being accepted for enrollment in fall semester courses, which start Wednesday, September 1, 2010, (spring semester courses, begin January 10, 2011), and continue for 13-15 weeks. Courses offered are:


* International Food Laws and Regulations (overview course) (spring/fall)

* United States Food Regulation (spring/fall) [enrollment closed - course full for fall semester 2010]

* European Union Food Regulation (spring/fall)

* Latin American Food Regulation (fall semester)

* Canadian Food Regulation (spring semester)

* Asian Food Regulation (spring/fall)

* Codex Alimentarius (The Food Code) (spring/fall)

* Plant Health, World Trade and Food Safety: Challenges and Opportunities [IPPC - International Plant Protection Convention] (fall semester only)

* Animal Health, World Trade, and Food Safety: Challenges and Opportunities [OIE - World Organisation for Animal Health] (fall and summer semesters)


The three-credit courses are taught in English completely over the Internet by an international network of experts in food regulation. No books are required. Transcript transmission is not required through the MSU Lifelong Education Program. Successful completion of any four (4) food law courses required for the International Food Law Distance Education Certificate, however, students are welcome to take any number of courses desired. Tuition for fall semester 2010 will be due within three weeks of enrollment.

To enroll online, new students may go to the Lifelong Education Program website: https://admissions.msu.edu/Apply.asp Be sure to select “Domestic (US)" or "International” in the first blank and in the second blank “Lifelong” (not “Freshman”, “Graduate” or “Transfer” student). Please also email the course name and your Application Number (which you will receive upon submitting your application) to IFLR@msu.edu so that we can do the override required for all of our courses).
