UCLA BRUINS AND USC TROJANS ATHLETIC ALUMNI ARE SET TO BOWL IN “THE SHOWDOWN” FOR CROSS-TOWN BRAGGING RIGHTS

Los Angeles, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 22, 2011 -- Hollywood…..On Friday, November 25th, athletic alumni from UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans will gather together for cross-town bragging rights in the “The Showdown”, a bowling tournament created by the Bruin Leadership Athletic Alumni Council (BLAAC).

The tournament will be held at Lucky Strike Lanes & Lounge located at L.A. Live at 800 W. Olympic Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles. The event is slated to begin at 7:00.

This marks the first event of its kind between the Bruin and Trojan athletic alumni. “I’m really excited about our upcoming event,” says Andre Farr, who heads up BLAAC and is also the Chairman and CEO of the Black Sports Agents Association. “I’m always looking for ways to make stronger our alumni connection to the athletic department and the campus and I thought this may be a great way to enhance it. I spoke with a several former athletes from UCLA who I’m pretty close with and I was amazed at how interested they were and how excited they were to do it,” explains Farr.

“The Showdown” will consist of former UCLA Bruins Toby Bailey (Guard, former Los Angeles Laker), Mitchell Butler (Guard/former Washington Bullet), Steve Lewis (Olympic Gold Medalist), Emmanuel Onwutuebe (Physician-Internist/former UCLA Noseguard), to name a few. Representing the USC Trojans will be Rodney Peete (QB/former Dallas Cowboys), Johnnie Morton (WR/former Kansas City), Mazio Royster (RB/former Tampa Bay Buccaneer), Kareem Kelly (WR/former New Orleans Saint), Martin French (CB/Sports Radio Talk Show Host), among others. Special celebrity guests in attendance include, Chris Spencer (Comedian), Lester Speight (Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon), Madison Chase (3-time ESPN2 Women’s Fitness Champion) and many more.

The bowling tournament will enhance the cross-town rivalry between the two schools and give the winner ‘bragging’ rights to yet another competition the night before the big game on Saturday.
