FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 1, 2012 -- (Houston, TX) Beaxrivers.com announces the release of Book One in a series titled "Tales from the Quarters." Silver: Currents of Change, is the first book in a new color-coded, self-published series.

Unemployed, the author is trying to turn job-loss tragedy into triumph. Beax Rivers is a writer, by profession. She has worked for many years in areas of marketing, communications, and publishing, and has also had a career as a university professor. But these days, she's an unemployed professional with degrees in marketing, communications, and advertising, including a PhD.

"Having a doctorate doesn't mean a thing in this economy," Dr. Rivers said in a recent interview. "In fact, it may even be a deterrent when low-paying jobs seem to be more abundant. Employers assume I will want to make a decent salary. So, since I'm forcibly unemployed and have always wanted to write novels, I guess there's no time like now to do this. Through the grace of God, I have somehow managed to self-publish."

Silver: Currents of Change is a riveting work of fiction about a young girl who was bullied, as child, who had to find her own way to fit in. She went overboard with what finally worked for her, and as a young adult had to make the necessary changes in her life and in her convictions, in order to move forward with her dreams. The heroine falls in love, wouldn't you know, with someone she once would have seen as "the enemy." And while her road to happiness is strewn with obstacles, in Silver: Currents of Change, love triumphs.

"I've been unemployed for two years," said the author. "Even facing possible foreclosure on my home. But just as the heroine of Silver danced through her pain, I learned to write through all my pain. I had to learn how to reject rejection. I've been rejected for hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs, but I keep applying anyway. When not looking for work--which is rarely--I write until my fingers bleed. And even though times are tougher than ever for me, I saved every penny I could from my unemployment benefits so that I could publish my first book. Now the book is done, the unemployment benefits are gone, and I'm on a quest to get my books and my story out there. I'm using only 'free' marketing methods, and with God as the wind beneath my wings, I'm going to see how high 'free' can take me and my books."

Dr. Rivers is chronicling her quest to market Silver: Currents of Change, as well as create interest in the rest of the books in her color-coded "Tales from the Quarters" series. "The 'Quarters,'” she said, "is short for “Colored folks quarters. It’s what black neighborhoods were once called in just about every small Southern town. I’m originally from Mississippi, and my grandmother lived in ‘the Quarters’ in my small hometown."

When asked why she uses a pen name, the author said, "My real name is much too long to fit on the cover of my novels. Besides, I like the look and the sound of my pen name. It speaks to the romantic-fiction writer in me. It’s short and memorable, like ‘Mark Twain,’ the pen name of a great writer we all know whose real name was Samuel Clemons."

Silver: Currents of Change is available for sale in hard cover, paper back, and e-book, through i-Universe.com, and Amazon.com. For more information, and to read Beax Rivers' inspiring Blog, visit www.beaxrivers.com.
