(Free-Press-Release.com) December 15, 2009 --Urban Optiques Vision and Eyewear Boutique and Tom Holzer Ford will be helping bring the classics back to the big screen as the naming sponsors for the 2010 “Movies at the Marquis” Classic Film Series at the historic Marquis Theatre in downtown Northville.

The featured films span four decades of classic Hollywood movie-making from 1939 to 1968.
Presented by the Northville Downtown Development Authority and sponsored by Urban Optiques and Tom Holzer Ford , the classic film series kicks off on January 16th, 2010 with the Hitchcock thriller North by Northwest featuring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint.

Urban Optiques and “Movies at the Marquis”: A Match Made for the Big Screen
Plymouth-Northville Optometrist Dr. Michelle Calder Cardwell, owner of Urban Optiques (formerly Urban Optiks), says the sponsorship was a natural fit for the upscale vision and eyewear boutique located in downtown Northville.
“Many of the today’s designer eyeglass and sunglasses draw their inspiration directly from classic Hollywood or vintage and retro designs” says Dr. Calder Cardwell. “These movies have some amazing eyewear in them, from the Persols that Steve McQueen wears in The Thomas Crown Affair to Cary Grant’s great shades in North By Northwest.”
“Cool sunglasses, whether the Ray-Ban’s popularized by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s or the Tom Ford “James Bond” aviators worn by Daniel Craig in Quantum of Solace, are the quintessential Hollywood fashion accessory. What would Hollywood be without its sunglasses?”
Dr. Calder Cardwell, who purchased Urban Optiques from former owner Dr. Rob Diegel in November, says the timing of the “Movies at the Marquis” sponsorship was ideal.
“We saw this sponsorship not only as a great opportunity to help bring these classic movies to a new generation of viewers, but also to get involved right away in supporting the local business community and downtown Northville,” explains Dr. Calder Cardwell. “Urban Optiques will have a strong presence at each of the films, and we’re planning on doing some fun themed events and giveaways at select movies. So it will be a great chance for us to meet the community.”
Urban Optiques will be hosting themed events around select movies, as well as providing “Viewing Guides” for each film for patrons who attend the movies. The Viewing Guides will be available both online, at the Urban Optiques eyewear boutique at Main and Center Streets and at the theatre the night of the show.
