(Free-Press-Release.com) December 22, 2011 --
US Performing Arts has intensive programs that are designed for high school students, allowing them to visit colleges, improve their skills, have fun, and work with the faculty that will be teaching the courses they will enroll in when they get to college. Our programs are "see and be seen" programs, focusing on the process of the craft.
We are partnered with colleges and universities who offer impressive programs with excellent faculty. Students will be introduced to outstanding college faculty with years of experience in the professional world. Our programs give dedicated students a chance o discover the options available to them when they choose to continue their academic education.
We would like to spotlight our programs that we will be offering this coming summer at Webster University in St. Louis, MO. For summer 2012 we will be offering summer camps in Acting, Musical Theater, and Tech Theater.
The acting workshop offers the camper professional training in acting. It is patterned after Webster's renowned Theater Conservatory and is an opportunity to work with some of the country's best college faculty. Students will have the opportunity to tailor their craft for both the demands of stage acting and on-camera work in television and film. The week's activities involve intensive training in the craft of acting through theater game techniques and improvisation. The workshops are designed to stimulate the creative imagination of each participant. Students will explore performance techniques in comedy, improvisation, character analysis, rhythm and timing, movement, and stage combat. In workshop sessions directed at on-screen performance you'll read and perform scenes from produced scripts with your peers as well as professionals. You'll leave feeling charged and confident about your ability to make and execute strong, specific acting choices, to get the job, and to reap the rewards of playing it as only you can.
Our Musical Theater Camp is designed to help hone students' essential skills so they are prepared for the demands of a Broadway career. Campers will take part daily in intensive voice, acting, and dance workshops taught by outstanding Broadway artists and college faculty. Our Musical Theater Camp curriculum consists of workshops that will focus on acting, improvisation, scene study and interpretation, song study and interpretation, vocal instruction, dance for musical theater, audition techniques, performance analysis, and a brief history of musical theater. Students will have a "work in progress" showing on the last day of camp.
Students are assessed on the first day of the program and are grouped accordingly by ability. Our Musical Theater faculty works closely with students, giving one on one feedback to address individual strong-points and weaknesses. Our program provides instruction for all levels- beginner to advanced.
In our Tech Theater Camp, Webster Conservatory's faculty takes you back stage to learn the craft! Ever watch a light show and wonder how they integrated it with your favorite song? Are you wowed at a concert by the incredible lighting display? Have you sat in the theater and been pulled into the drama through the emotion evoked by the set and lighting designs? Do you enjoy production? Then this is the workshop for you. In this intensive week you'll become a technical theater wizard. You will learn how to create and master the effects that turn a set into a story-telling devise. You learn techniques and work with media and fabrics used in scenic painting, layout, color theory and equipment. You will cover the uses of light, light and music, tracking circuits and the technical aspect of lighting. The week will culminate in lighting demonstrations and a collaborative project. Students will have the opportunity to produce a portfolio using their projects.
