The audition process is really not intimidating. Auditions are by video. In the comfort of your home or studio. I’ll even tell you what we’re looking for! We want to see you as a real person. We want age appropriate material in both your song and monologue. We want your introduction to be a window into who you are and we want to see your passion. Your passion for being you. Your passion for life and your passion to accomplish your dream. With that, you can’t fail.
So, if you’re thinking about a summer camp this summer; a musical theater camp, a dance camp or an acting camp, be sure to add the Broadway Conservatory or UCLA Arts Camps/Workshop Musical Theater Conservatory to your wish list. It’s the challenge you owe yourself.
Musical Theater Conservatory at UCLA
The Musical Theater Conservatory offers training in the musical theater forms that are prevalent today both on Broadway and in National Tours. Although its foundation is based on some of the classics of the musical theater, the conservatory develops the student's acting and musical performance and movement techniques in such areas as rock and roll, gospel, operatic and jukebox musicals. It is a conservatory that reflects the need for musical performance of this century in training the actor who can sing and the singer who can act. Approached with the same discipline and training that is expected of the working professional the Conservatory nurtures the young artist towards their potential and then encourages them to go further to new heights. It not only trains the voice, the body, and the soul but also the intellect in terms of what musical theater performance is all about. Comprised of working faculty in the musical theater, the Conservatory will give each of its participants the training of a lifetime in one of the finest Theater Departments in the world. The Conservatory offers the student master classes with the likes of such artists as actors as Jeff Goldblum, JoBeth Williams, Ken Page (CATS), Karen Morrow (WHITE CHRISTMAS) and Sammy Williams (A CHORUS LINE)
This intensive three week program culminates in a performance with live musicians after which will be a personal critique from some of the leading professionals in Los Angeles to further enhance and provide guidance to the student's training. Our guests over the years have included: Director Gordon Hunt, Director AJ Carothers, Director Gary Gardner, Choreographer and Associate Director Ray Bolger Musical theater Program Nicholas Gunn, singer actor performer Chris Carothers, Jerry Sternbach, Music Director for Reprise Los Angeles, Stephen Dry, Theatrical Agent, Maggie Murphy, President Kiefer Sutherland Productions and former Guest Artist with the Louisville Repertory, Broadway actress Karen Morrow and stage and screen star Sally Struthers. Who knows as yet what the summer of 2012 will hold in store? This is an experience not to be missed!
