FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

http://www.petsforpatriots.org Located in Kyle, PAWS is a no-kill shelter which has been providing sanctuary to homeless, abandoned and abused animals since 1986. “We have had the honor of adopting out animals to veterans, and we wanted the opportunity to do even more through Pets for Patriots,” remarks Sue Hardin, president of PAWS’ board of directors.
In support of Pets for Patriots’ mission, PAWS is reducing its customary adoption fees by 10% (or more, depending on the adopted pet), just for Pets for Patriots members.
Through its nationwide network of pet adoption and veterinary partners, Pets for Patriots makes pet ownership more affordable for military personnel, enabling them to enjoy the loyalty, companionship and unconditional love of a companion pet.
Central Texas Pets for Patriots members receive an ongoing 15% discount off veterinary services for their honorably adopted pet from nearby West Lynn Veterinary Clinic, an AAHA-accredited hospital in Austin.
Every year, five to seven million animals enter shelters across America as strays, owner-surrenders or abuse or neglect cases. Mature pets, specials needs pets and larger breed dogs are hardest to adopt out for shelters. These pets also share the highest risk for being euthanized and comprise those eligible for the Pets for Patriots program.
To qualify for Pets for Patriots’ program benefits, the honorably adopted pet must be a dog or cat two years old or order, a dog weighing over 40 pounds regardless of age, or a special needs pet.
“Our goal is to accelerate the adoption of harder-to-place pets that still have years of love and life to give,” says Beth Zimmerman, founder and executive director of Pets for Patriots. “With the simple act of honorable pet adoption, we can save two lives.”
PAWS’ Board President Hardin concurs: “By participating in Pets for Patriots, we hope to achieve more adoptions of our adult shelter pets, large dogs and special needs animals while also positively impacting the loves of those men and women who have served our country. As a no-kill shelter, we care for and love our animals for as long as it takes. The Pets for Patriots program will play a vital role in helping our animals find loving forever homes sooner, rather than later.”
Offered at no cost to its members, Pets for Patriots is open to individuals from any branch of the U.S. military, at any stage of their careers. Those interested must first apply at www.petsforpatriots.org, and provide proof of their military service.
Approval typically takes two business days, after which Pets for Patriots members may visit PAWS Shelter and Humane Society to adopt their new best friend and receive discounted pet care from West Lynn Veterinary Clinic.
