FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) October 10, 2011 -- Acclaimed Bay Area Writer, Carol Denise Mitchell calls on VH1 to Stop The bullying on Basketball Wives, LA

San Francisco, CA Monday, October 10, 2011, [Stop Bullying of Draya Michele] is the message that CDMBOOKS is sending to Doug Herzog and Van Toffler. CDMBooks is calling on the cable TV network to stop the bullying. There are many productive ways to make Basketball Wives, LA (BBWLA) a great show without bullying one character, Draya Michele. The author, Carol Denise Mitchell is calling on VH1 to cease the bullying, or encounter an all out attack against its’ sponsors. Carol Denise Mitchell, 2011 Readers favorite Book Award winner for her book on Child Abuse entitled: What Happened to Suzy, is no stranger to abuse; Ms. Mitchell was critically abused as a child. She has lived her adult life reaching out to help abused victims.

Mitchell's fight to end abuse is a continual effort to help and mentor troubled mothers in America. In her letter to VH1 below, Ms. Mitchell challenges VH1 to stop bullying today.

To Whom it May Concern:

As soon as abuse was brought to my attention, I had reached out to VH1 about the bullying experienced by actress, Draya Michele, on new show: Basketball Wives, LA. When I didn’t receive a response, I realized it is important for me to reach out in any way that I could to stop the heinous bullying that I observed on Basketball Wives, LA. In an effort to contact Doug Herzog, MTV President, my concerns were directed to them for this and these issues.

In observing the VH1 show: Basketball Wives LA, family members and friends alike were appalled at the way grown women: Imani, Laura, Jackie, Gloria, et al have been continually bullying and attacking one girl, a younger woman, Draya Michele. Friends and family compelled me to do something. This left me with no choice but to reach out to VH1, producers and sponsors to demand an end to the ferocious bullying displayed on the aforementioned show.

At first observers said they had anticipated the attacks were an aberration. They assumed the name calling, the fighting and the back-stabbing against Ms. Michele, would be a one-time event that would end in a results-oriented kind of setting. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Instead the ire and negativity against Ms. Michele grew to be very disturbing.

It was perpetual and, ever-growing. As a writer and an advocate for the rights of the young and abused, it was difficult for all of those concerned to watch how VH1 and its’ sponsors irresponsibly sanctioned such vile attacks on just one woman. Those involved allowed older women, (who should be at the least mentoring Draya Michele) annihilate and humiliate this poor young woman for the world to see.

In turn, cast members garnered crucial evidence (via the Internet) that they used against Draya Michele. No person in an authority role even authenticated the so-called police report and or information that was used to torture, and lambast Draya Michele. Overall, the behavior of the integral cast members, particularly (Jackie Christie and Laura Govan), was nothing short of disturbing. And, last night's episode left many uncomfortable with what would invariably happen next. And nobody wanted to see what these women would do to Draya Michele in subsequent episodes. So with no choice other than but to try and help Draya, literally, thus here comes this press release. We’re hoping that VH1 considers this letter as an open invitation for them and the characters herewith, to end the abuse on Basketball Wives LA.

They used hearsay and unverified information from a Google Search to edify the continual attacks on this young girl, by alluding to her being an abusive mother. Subsequently, they poisoned opinions against an impressionable young woman, who was limited in her support and her defenses. Legally, Jackie Christie might be charged with defamation of character, slander, etc for providing hearsay information on the air that was eroneous at best. Christie had not provided the viewing audience with information verifying, or edifying the facts and serious charges against Michele. This kind of behaviour is extremely irresponsible.

Suffice it to say, if these attacks against that one young woman, (Draya Michele) don't come to an immediate halt we will petition the viewing audience to write to: Warner-Amex Satellite, MTV President Doug Herzog and Van Toffler. Additionally, we plan to avidly post on Twitter, ( or where we can) to amass followers to boycott these attacks on this poor girl, Draya Michele. Additionally, we will call upon the entire country to boycott anyone that sponsors, bullying, physical and verbal attacks, assault and all of this kind of derisive behaviour.

Nobody deserves to be publicly humiliated this way. As Americans it is all of our responsibility to say enough. So then, if these kinds of attacks were sanctioned against any one of us as Americans, we’d be very depressed. We’d want mentorship or somebody to come to our immediate aide. And that's not to say that Imani opened up the season calling Draya Michele "Worthless," and then VH1 let Laura, who is 100 pounds heavier than Draya get in the ring and pummel this poor woman, nearly to death.

Those said, if immediate changes are not made to this show, an avid effort to boycott against your sponsors will ensue with a very public repudiation against your show and your bad, hurtful, and shameful treatment of this impressionable young black female.

Very truly yours,
