Excerpts:

Award Acceptance Speech On The Occasion Of the 4th AngelAfrica Entrepreneur Achievement Award Ceremony on 10th December 2009 at Edwin Gould Foundation. New York City. New York.
Ladies and Gentlemen! It is a great honor for me to stand here today. I am sincerely grateful for this nomination and I am pleased to accept this year’s Angel Africa Entrepreneur Achievement Award. I want to thank all for being here tonight, and thanks to Angel Africa and particularly to Amini Kajunju, Chair, Africa Outreach, Angel Africa Anniversary Celebration.

I need to especially thank my family and friends. They have been rolling their eyes and shaking their heads for the past 10 years, but they've been behind me every step of the way. A special thank to all CareerNation staff and particularly to my wife Obiamaka for her support and inspiration.

There really is nothing more important to me than striving to be a good human being. So, to be here tonight to receive this honor is beyond expression in words for me. I should admit I was a bit stunned when I learned about my nomination. Without false modesty, I feel that other professionals are also worthy of this reward. However, I realize that it can’t be divided, so again I want to express my gratitude to you.

As some of you know, and others are about to find out, I have dedicated much of my life to human resource development in Africa. Every year, CareerNation provide the platform for networking and debate among leaders in the business community, policy makers, entrepreneurs and professionals who have an interest in converting the Africa Brain Drain to Africa Brain Gain. Over the past 7 years, CareerNation has placed more than 5000 candidates into careers across the continent and has invested in skills training and development centers in Nigeria, Ghana, and Kenya. Our objective is to be the leading human resources management company in Sub-Saharan Africa.

In closing,

Maya Angelou said, 'When you learn, teach. When you get, give.' I want you to know that this award to me means that I will continue to strive to give back to Africa what it has given to me, so that I might even be more worthy of tonight's honor.

Thank you and Enjoy the rest of the evening.
