Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) November 16, 2011 -- CHICAGO – On November 16th Vietnam Veteran, former Curtis Mayfield’s Custom Records Artist and one half of the 70’s group The Triplett Twins, Leon Triplett, will be performing at the Vet Art Project Chicago event at the Chicago Cultural Center - 1st floor in the Garland Room 78 E. Washington Street Chicago, 60602 on November 16th from 7:00pm-9:30pm.

Chicago native, Leon Triplett honorably served his country in the US Army, drafted to fight in the Vietnam War left him with physical limitations. His disabilities could not take away his desire to sing and make a difference in the lives of under privileged youth. Mr. Triplett donates tennis services and equipment to inner city children, he planns to start start The Triplett Foundation 2012. Leon and twin brother Levi returned from the war to continue the peruse of their professional music
career as the Triplett Twins. Sharing the voice of Revolutionary change in the 70’s, the Triplett Twin’s released a summer hit “Get it” which was banded from the airwaves because of it’s controversial lyrics.

Today solo artist Leon Triplett is still signing and writing soulful socially aware music, from R&B to Hip Hop. Veterans, family members and friends attending the the Vet Art Project will enjoy Mr. Triplett’s powerful original song “Love America”, an expression of his experience as a Black American Veteran. He will also perform a selection to lighten the mood and set the Holiday spirit with his “Christmas“ love song.

About Leon Triplett:
Leon Triplett is a staple in the music industry, he is a classic gem to those who have followed his music since the 70’s. Mr. Triplett is currently in the studio working on some new selections that include Country & Western. A man of versatility he has recently wrote a Hip Hop Rap song, “Hands Up, Man Down”, performed by emerging rap group The Green Team, playing on Southern Radio Stations across the United States.

A recently rebirth of The Triplett Twin’s classic hits including: “Pretty Please, with Sugar on Top” which will be featured in a HBO Original Film “Act of Valor” set for February 2012 release. Additional 70’s hits writen by Leon Triplett for an artist Henry Ford, “Take Me for What I am” was featured in June in the new USA original show Suits and currently slated to be included in the soundtrack of an independent film entitled “Save the Date”.

November 16th 7pm-9:30pm at the Chicago Cultural Center in the Garland Room Chicago Vet Art Project has created opportunities for veterans and their family members to work in collaboration with artists from all disciplines to create new art about war for public performance and viewing. The goals of the Vet Art Project are to support our veterans, create stronger voices among our veterans, provide new opportunities for artists, and offer a venue to hear the voices of our veterans and artists and foster discussions about how war affects us all.

This unique art-in-process performance series will provide an opportunity for community members to participate in the development of art created in collaboration by veterans, their family members and artists. Performances will include 4-5 short performance pieces and a small sampling of visual art in various stages of completion. Each evening will be followed with brief community discussions and talkbacks designed to discuss the impact of the art on the community.
