FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) December 2, 2010 -- On December 1st, as the owner of Visiting Angels, in Ann Arbor. drove home from work, she listened to 107.1 Ann Arbor talk about their Rockin For The Hungry 2010 campaign. "I heard about the increased need for food in our community for those less fortunate, through Food Gatherer's", said Angil Tarach-Ritchey. "Immediately I wanted to do something more than personally donate food, so I came up with a promotional idea, and called my son, Michael, who is my Assistant Director, before I even got home."

Visiting Angels has a very strict dress code for their caregiver's out in homes and facilities all over the community. Their staff must wear scrubs. Angil said, "we know our staff would love to wear jeans to work, so I told Michael I am thinking of a promotion for our staff so we can donate a bunch of food to Food Gatherer's. My thoughts were, if a caregiver brings in 5 nonperishable food items each week by Monday, through the month of December, they can wear jeans each week they donate.". Michael immediately was on board, an within the hour had the promotion going out in an email to their "Angels".

Michael took it a step further and turned it into a contest. "I wanted to make the promotion more fun and exciting by offering a prize to the caregiver who donates the most food", said Michael. "We expect to be able to donate a lot of food by the end of December, and mine will be going in the donation box tomorrow so I can also contribute and wear jeans this month", he said with a chuckle.

Visiting Angels Ann Arbor has extended the contest to include their client's and families. "We are inviting our client's and families to participate in their own contest by also donating food or money to Food Gatherer's. We will count every $1 donated as 1 food item for the contest. It's not always easy for our clients to grocery shop for themselves, let alone for extra food, so their contest includes financial donations as well. For ease, they can just give their food items or checks, made out to Food Gatherer's, to their "Angels", and they will bring them into the office, where we will track the donations", said Angil. The client that donates the most for the month of December will receive a Gift Booklet that allows them to choose their own prize.

Visiting Angels has notified 107.1, and Foid Gatherer's of their promotion, and is challenging other businesses in the community to run similiar promotions to their staff. "Imagine the amount of food donated if all local businesses accept the challenge", said Angil.

Visiting Angels is inviting the public to drop of nonperishable food items at their office, located at 2860 Carpenter Rd. Suite 300, Ann Arbor, in the Sparrow Wood Office Center, or donate directly to Food Gatherer's located at 1 Carrot Way, Ann Arbor MI 48105. For more information on Food Gatherer's visit their website at http://www.foodgatherers.org/index.htm.

107.1 Ann Arbor is broadcasting live from their NEW ROCKIN' LOCATION at KROGER on South Maple in Ann Arbor, December 1st-5th, so you can also drop food off at that location.

"We expect this promotion to be successful and will most likely repeat it yearly starting in November", said Tarach-Ritchey.
