FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
San Diego, California, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) January 17, 2012 -- Wednesday, January 25, at 6:15 PM, Fine Arts Photographer Robert Hansen will share insights from his eight years of travel throughout the Yucatan Peninsula, exploring and photographing the Mayan Culture. His photographs and book will be on display and available for purchase during this show.

Hansen traveled the back roads of the Yucatan searching out remote Mayan ruin sites, haciendas, and abandoned churches, and generally immersing himself into the Mayan culture.

The result is a beautifully printed 12"×12" book, Yucatan Passages, a photographer's pilgrimage through Southern Mexico, containing photographs and journal entries from his extensive travels. It also includes valuable maps and directional information for anyone wishing to visit the area. Published by the Laguna Wilderness Press, Yucatan Passages is available in softcover, hardcover, and a special boxed limited edition with one fine art print (a book signing will follow his talk).

Mata Ortiz Pottery

The unique and distinctive designs of Mata Ortiz pottery will also be on display from the Galería Pérez Meillón of Ensenada, BC, Mexico. Mata Ortiz pottery is hand-formed without the use of a potter's wheel, painted with homemade brushes of long strands of human hair, and traditionally fired without the use of a modern kiln as we know it. Owner Adalberto Pérez Meillón will share the history, re-discovery, and reinvention of this ancient artistic tradition dating back more than 500 years. Mata Ortiz Pottery and books, and paintings by Gallery Owner Pérez Meillón will be available for sale during this show.
