Vodka Rocks! Successfully Completes Kickstarter $6,000 Fundraising Campaign

Skuflix, producers of the destined-to-be cult film Vodka Rocks! has completed a round of private fundraising for distribution costs associated with the film. Next in line are a series of activist-entertainment (“Actitainment”) events held for audiences in the tri-state New York City region. Screenings are expected to begin in January 2012 and continue throughout the year in advance of an anticipated Video-On-Demand release. Director John Rubino expressed his happiness at the support for this film. “It's been a long, hard road, and we’ve felt pretty elated to have our community gathering around to help us. We're excited to soon move into the promotion and distribution of Vodka Rocks! Thanks to our supporters.”

The film Vodka Rocks! is a satirical comedy based on the lives of three alcohol beverage marketers who employ ruthless tactics in their quest to attain brand dominance in a highly competitive global marketplace. Shot entirely in New York City using high-definition cameras and employing special effects, car chases and explosions, Vodka Rocks! is a cautionary tale of how branding and marketing unchecked can lead to irresponsible actions and conclusions for both buyers and sellers.

Executive Producer Arabella Hutter, who led the fundraising effort, said at its completion, “Today marks the end of a successful Kickstarter campaign, one where we raised over $6,000 in less than two months from people who wish to see this movie brought to the public’s attention.” She continues, “Going forward, we intend to hold a screening at a pace of once every month, each time in a different venue, to ensure the broadest reach citywide of this very political satirical film. Though it may look like a comedy, it carries a strong message about consumerism that we would really like the public to see.”
