Central Texas – The Greater Austin Walk Now for Autism will be held this year in Round Rock, Texas at the Dell Diamond on October 11th, 2009. The Walk begins at 11:00 am and a resource fair for autism service providers precedes the race from 9:30 am -11:00 pm.
Austin/Round Rock/Pflugerville chiropractor Dr. Harry Schultze will provide free spinal screenings, balloons, and chiropractic coloring activities at the resource fair. Dr. Schultze and his staff from Austin Chiropractic Health Center will be on hand to discuss how chiropractic care can treat the symptoms of autism. Children diagnosed on the autistic spectrum have found relief from debilitating symptoms through regular spinal adjustments, nutrition modifications, and adding certain supplements.
Case studies as early as 1975 (Walton EV. Int Rev Chiro 1975; 29:4-5,24-26) suggest that introducing chiropractic care into the treatment plan for children on the autistic spectrum leads to learning and behavioral improvements and progression in cognitive development. 1990’s research studies confirm these findings (Rubinstein, HM, Chiropractic Pediatrics Vol.1 No. 1, April 1994; Warner SP and Marner TM. Today’s Chiropractic. May-June 1999).
Dr. Schultze has seen children in his care who were diagnosed with autism improve a letter grade in school, experience reduced behavioral symptoms, rejoin peers in the mainstream classroom, and display marked improvements in social relationships. “Chiropractic care removes roadblocks within the body and allows proper expression of the neurological systems inside the patient – this leads to reduced symptoms because communication is restored,” says Dr. Schultze. Dr. Schultze treats patients diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders ranging from Pervasive Development Disorder (PDD) to Rett Syndrome.
Join the Austin Chiropractic Health Center at the Autism Speaks Greater Austin Walk Now for Autism resource fair and walk on Sunday morning, October 11th, 2009. All proceeds from the walk will go toward research and awareness efforts through Autism Speaks on behalf of children and families navigating an autism diagnosis.
