Wansbeck Performing Arts Academy’s Quick Step To Business

February 17, 2010

"We are not only providing classes but also offering employment opportunities in the future."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 17, 2010 -- A pair of enterprising entertainers have put their best feet forward and opened the North East of England's newest performing arts academy.

Long term couple, Karen Smith (29) and Andrew Stead (30) from North Seaton in Ashington have transformed the old police station in the town into one of the region’s best equipped facilities for dancing, singing and drama. The Wansbeck Performing Arts Academy boasts a dance studio, recording facilities and a café area where parents can relax while their children are being entertained or are participating in a class.

Both Karen and Andrew have toured the world with their shows and performed in front of thousands of people in venues as diverse as cruise ships and football grounds. This experience has given them the expertise and confidence to start the new business venture and already many of their classes for people of all ages and abilities are proving popular with the people of Ashington.

“Our courses seem to be very popular as well as workshops for schools,” said Karen. “This gives the students the opportunity to work front of house and behind the scenes too. We choreograph all our shows ourselves and provide the music and lighting as well.”

As well as providing an excellent new performance and training facility, Karen and Andrew are looking forward to being able to offer employment to their students in the future. “We are always looking for talented performers for our travelling shows; “said Andrew.” Our intention is to seek out that talent from within our classes helping to provide a future for those students who have a natural ability for performance.”

Karen and Andrew have also received free business support from Lisa Scott, enterprise coach with Go Wansbeck. “This business has a lot in common with many that we help in the Wansbeck area,” said Lisa, “If you have a dream of a business idea, we can give you free support to help develop it and unlock your potential. The facilities here are fantastic and I know that the business will perform well.”
