FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 7, 2011 -- The Pyramid Holistic Wellness Center in Rutland, VT is pleased to announce the introduction of Bamboo Massage and Bamboo Massage Training to its offerings.

Bamboo, technically the largest member of the grass family, grows throughout the world but is an especially important part of the local culture and economy in Asia, where it is used as a building material and food source. Because of its amazing ability to grow--often more than a foot in a day--and its ability to reach full maturity in one growing season of 3-4 months, it is considered to be one of the world's most reneweable materials. In China and India, bamboo is used in holistic healing; for thousands of years, it has been an ingredient in rituals for life energy, sexuality, fertility, wealth, and has been considered good luck. Today, bamboo has been reintroduced to modern society through its use in the massage field.

Because of its strength and varying size, the hollow bamboo tubes make effective deep tissue massage tools. A skilled massage therapist with some training can roll and knead the bamboo stalks evenly over a client, soothing sore muscles, increasing circulation, and providing a deep sense of relaxation. With the addition of heat to the stalks, like hot stone massage, warm bamboo can be part of a stress-reduction program.

Unfortunately, bamboo massage has mostly only been available in exclusive spas in more urban areas with very few massage therapists having proper training in how to safely use the bamboo and heat together. Dr. Margaret Smiechowski and Darya McNolty, two of the founding instructors of the Pyramid Holistic Massage School, have developed a unique series of techniques that provide a safe, comfortable, therapeutic massage using warm bamboo stalks and oil. Darya McNolty, a California-trained massage therapist specializing in deep tissue massage and reflexology, will be offering this special version of bamboo massage exclusively at the Pyramid Holistic Wellness Center. Dr. Margaret Smiechowski, North America's foremost expert on Himalayan salt and one of the first people to introduce halotherapy (salt therapy) to the United States, will be offering training in bamboo massage exclusively at the Pyramid Holistic School of Massage.
