Washougal to Come Together After Wednesday's Tragedy

December 8, 2011 Miscellaneous news in Camas,Washington, United States of America

"Stuff the Bus" brings Washougal residents together for a positive, uplifting experience giving people a chance to restore community spirit after Wednesday's tragedy and school lock downs.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Camas, Washington, United States of America (Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2011 -- Yesterday was a very emotional day for many of the residents of Washougal after a man lit a house on fire, shot at officers and fire crews and created enough chaos to force all schools in the surrounding area to go on lock down for the entire day.
Families worried and were unable to get their children home until after 4pm. With so many families affected by this tragedy, we need our community now more than ever for support and to restore our small town sense of community.

Standing together tomorrow night as we bring in thousands of pounds of food that will feed those in need in our community is a step toward encouraging a stronger sense of faith and spirit during the holiday. Families throughout Camas and Washougal will come together as we witness a miracle again this year for the fourth annual “Stuff the Bus”.

Both Camas and Washougal schools have been invited by Sean Guard, Mayor of Washougal to participate in the parade and Tree Lighting on Friday afternoon on their way through town to the Weigh-In Party at Exterior Wood in Washougal at 6:00. They have gladly accepted this invitation as a way to show their unity toward one common cause – to help those in need.

This small community has raised over 70,000 pounds of food each year that goes to feeding families throughout the community - not just at the holidays, but year round. Their amazing contributions to the C.A.R.O.L. Program, Children’s Home Society and The Treasure House support their programs and provide emergency food as well as holiday gift baskets to people right here in our community.

Stuff the Bus is exactly what is needed take the focus off Wednesday’s tragedy and pull our towns together for a positive, uplifting and uniting experience.
