We Need To Celebrate Women

It has not been easy, my mother still tells me that it was not very easy for her to take a job and take care of the family as well. She told me that it was really difficult and she finally had to give up her job, to take care of all of us. I guess she did good in raising us, however when I think of it, I don’t think I will be able to do that. I don’t think I will be able to leave my job and take care of the kids from home.

That is something that my mother decided to do when she was raising us. However when I talk to my friends they are also not ready to just give up everything and sit at home. I guess it is just a difference of opinion; there are plenty of women who would love to jump into such an opportunity even today and trust me I am not judging. All this tells me that we have grown so much as a country over the years. There are women who want to raise a family and there are women who want to have a career and make a name for themselves.

I feel proud to be a part of such a country where women have the liberty to do whatever they want and when they want. However we at times forget the struggle that a lot of women had to face to get us to where we are today. It was not all that pretty even 100 years ago, women who were not married by 23 were frowned upon and the women who wanted to work had it even tough, they were not taken very seriously.

Even today we strive to make it to the top , however I feel that we have the liberty to do anything and I feel truly blessed. When I look at women like Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey and Faith Hill, I feel a sense of pride. Women can have it all, if they want they can run families and businesses at the same time, it is just a matter of commitment and how far are you willing to go, to get where you want to.
