Westway Ford and General Manager, Barton Hankins, are proud to host the “Drive One 4 UR School” event at The Highlands School this Friday, October 7, 2011! Ford Motor Company will donate $20 for each test drive taken by friends and parents during the event, and Westway Ford is going to MATCH each and every dollar in support of the school.
This program was a terrific success last year and we’re excited to kick off the electrifying fundraising event once again! Westway Ford has been honored by Irving ISD for years of contributions, including last year when we were a corporate sponsor for Irving ISD Athletics during the big football game against MacArthur High, at which we hosted the very successful Drive One event all day and into the Friday night lights!
The “Drive One 4 UR School” program was developed as a fun, engaging way to help schools raise money to support their sports and extracurricular activities. Ford and Lincoln-Mercury Dealerships partner with a local school to conduct a test drive fundraising event. For every valid test-drive completed, Ford Motor Company will donate $20 to the participating high school, up to $6,000! So, the more people who test-drive a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicle at the event, the more money can be raised!
The program began in 2007 and ever since its inception over 15,000 people have participated simply by taking a Ford for a test drive. This has resulted in much-needed funding for various schools. After its start, the event became so wildly popular that Ford expanded the program in 2009 to include junior high schools and elementary schools. In addition to raising funds, high schools that generate the most new Ford sales are also rewarded monetarily. The top fundraising high school receives a reward of $15,000. The second place winner takes $10,000 and the third-place winner collects $5,000.
Westway Ford’s General Manager, Barton Hankins, is an active community member and is extremely proud and excited to be a part of a program that gives back to local schools. This Friday come test drive a Ford at The Highlands School and help us surpass our fundraising goals!
