Alcohol and depression can is a deadly combination that can worsen one’s health. This is because depression is a very pernicious disorder that affects a person’s overall health in many ways. Instead of one feeling they want to drink, it starts to feel like a need or a necessity than a want which can be controlled. The long term effects alcohol and depression are damaging certain body organs such as the liver which is responsible for cleaning the blood and other conditions such as dementia which is a memory loss disorder and due to depression, one might even contemplate suicide.

The connection between alcohol drinking and depression is that when someone drinks alcohol, they tend to be feeling either relaxed or even depressed depending on certain conditions that may be pre-existing in the patient’s body. What is fact about alcohol and depression is that when someone drinks alcohol, it affects the chemicals in the brain therefore increasing the chances of being depressed. The after effects of drinking which are hangovers can make one feel sick, anxious and even guilty of something even when they have not committed anything wrong. What might follow are arguments with loved ones and family members due to the intake of alcohol and depression which they suffer. The arguments hence start getting depressing, life becomes complicated at home, in the work place and even in some cases the person begins to withdraw from others.
