WNBA free agent point guard Ivory Latta signs with Washington Mystics.
Washington, D.C. - February 1, 2013 - Today the nation's capitol will receive great news that will surely bring a smile to the face of Washington sports fans including basketball enthusiast President Barack Obama at the White House. The Washington Mystics have signed the talented free agent point guard Ivory Latta. "I am very excited with Ivory's decision to come to Washington. I strongly believe she can be a catalyst for our turnaround." said Mystics Head Coach and General Manager Mike Thibault. "Her improvement over the last two seasons has been terrific and she will help fill our need for a point guard that will pus the tempo, can penetrate to score or create for her teammates and feed the post. Our fans will love the excitement and professionalism that she will provide on and off the court." The University of North Carolina Lady Tarheels legend brings not only great ball skills to Washington, D.C. but she brings her charismatic personality. Latta has always been a fan favorite in whatever WNBA team she has played for and will certainly become one in Washington. She has enjoyed being a national ambassador for PDF Champions Program to help bring awareness and raise much needed funds for research for Parkinson's. "My father and grandmother suffer from Parkinson's so I personally know how devastating this disease can be. So I want to continue to use my platform and notoriety to continue doing so in Washington.
