FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) January 8, 2010 --
Venice, California, January 8, 2010
FeelGoodGuru.com - the online destination for wellness and optimism - is presenting the first annual WooWoo Awards on January 17, 2010 in Venice, California.
Moira Nordholt, founder of Feel Good Guru, says "The WooWoo Awards were created to put a spotlight on people, ideas, and things that help make the world a better place. We're all about people and companies everywhere doing good on the planet - uplifting action we call 'groovin' with the woowoo'."
As a highlight of the awards event, Feel Good Guru will present its first annual "Hero of the Year WooWoo" to Mark Horvath of InvisiblePeople.tv.
Mark Horvath works tirelessly to help end homelessness across America through his powerful forum invisiblepeople.tv where he changes perceptions one at a time by giving homeless people a face and a voice. In 2009 he trekked across America, covering over 11,000 miles for the sole purpose of shining a light on the homeless crisis. He is an inspiration to everyone he meets.
There are two categories of WooWoos: The Feel Good Guru WooWoos, presented by decree of Feel Good Guru, and The People's WooWoos, which will be voted on by guests at the awards ceremony, including local luminaries and taste makers from the social media scene, as well as those watching live on the Internet, and on Twitter.
Other awards will include: "Highest Consciousness-Raising Media Property", "Most Inspirational Musical Statement", "Greatest Social Change Connector", "Coolest Consumer Product", and "Best Barometer of the Planet".
The WooWoo Awards will be held on Sunday, January 17 from 1-4 pm in a private garden in Venice, California and will feature a musical performance by Venice street musician, Joey and special surprise guests.
The awards ceremony will be streamed live on the internet at livestream.com/FGGtv and on Twitter using hashtag #tweetuplift.
The Feel Good Guru Hero of the Year WooWoo Award includes a $500 prize from sponsor Arpix Media International Inc. "We look forward to participating in the inaugural WooWoos," says Ron Proulx, President of Arpix. "I've worked in media a long time and I admire Mark's use of technology to make the world better."
