FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) June 14, 2010 -- Just in time for the 2010 World Cup, young children can learn the game of soccer and see the pros in action for free. Soccer Shots, a national soccer program dedicated to teaching soccer to children ages 3 to 6, will hold a free clinic Saturday, June 19 at City Island in Harrisburg. The session will be held on the Harrisburg City Islanders’ game field.

Children who participate in the clinic from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. may also see a free skills demonstration by professional City Islanders players and will receive a free ticket to the City Islanders game, following at 7 p.m. The food court and children’s play area will open at 5:30.

The clinic aims to raise funds and awareness for Soccer Shots Global Goals, which provides opportunities for disadvantaged youth within the U.S. and around the world through soccer. It is run by Soccer Shots Harrisburg Co-Director Jason Webb, a central Pennsylvania native who has played soccer collegiately at Messiah College and professionally with the Harrisburg Heat.

Inspired by the 2010 World Cup, the first tournament in history hosted by the continent of Africa, Global Goals is teaming up with Amandla Ku Lutsha, an organization based in Khayelitsha, South Africa. The program seeks to empower and educate disadvantaged youth in its community outside of Cape Town, which is stricken with many impoverished and parentless children.

There will be free giveaways and raffles throughout the event. Parents are asked to register their child online in advance at http://www.soccershots.org/harrisburg.htm. The first 200 online registrants will receive a free t-shirt on location.

Soccer Shots reaches more than 2,000 children per season in the HLLY market, and more than10,000 children nationally per season. It has grown to more than 50 territories in the U.S. and Canada since its founding in 2000, and it was voted a top franchise by Entrepreneur magazine for two years.

All donations and kettle korn sales at the event will benefit Soccer Shots Global Goals. If your business or organization would like or donate an item or certificate to the raffle, please contact Mandy@soccershots.org.
