Writing Tips: A Few Words about Newsletters & Other Marketing Materials by Suzanne Lieurance, the Working Writer’s Coach

If you’ve been building a mailing list and you’ve started sending out a newsletter to the members of this list, good for you.

But did you know that most people won’t buy your products and services just because they read about them in your newsletter?

A regular newsletter is a good way to keep your name, and what you do, before your target market. But you’ll need to create other, shorter emails to actually sell your products and services (or affiliate products and services).

Again, these short emails should contain some helpful information, besides the service or product you are offering for sale.
It’s also more beneficial (to you) to send out a short newsletter once a week, or at least twice a month, rather than a long newsletter just once a month. There are a couple of reasons for this.

First, people tend to read shorter material. When they see a newsletter that’s several pages long…”
